The Senior Purchasing Director manages the commodity managers and purchasing directors and leads the commodity management team for one of our clients in the Automotive industry. This individual will coordinate the integrated long-term and tactical process of supply management activities including inventory control, supplier performance, and supplier selection.

The senior purchasing director is also in charge of the cost reduction roadmap for our client. Work involves partnering with suppliers, procurement, materials management, and quality to execute risk mitigation strategies across the supply base which results in the successful movement of product from suppliers to our customers.


Support specific projects/initiatives aimed at improving Supply Chain costs and actively cultivate strong relationships with internal groups, manufacturers, and suppliers to ensure on-time delivery to customers.
Perform and manage all supply chain engineering related activities ensuring uninterrupted and cost-effective supply of products and components while supporting the attainment of short and long term strategic supply chain goals.
Develop and implement worldwide strategies which will provide superior components and provide improved internal customer service levels while minimizing risk at the best cost possible.

Implement sourcing strategies to ensure worldwide supplier quality, delivery, lead time, inventory and cost performance goals are met for the commodity management team

Work with Global Quality Team to solve worldwide supplier quality problems and improve worldwide leveraging opportunities.
Identify research and implement new materials and manufacturing technologies.
Conduct commodity specific competitor and industry analysis to identify cost and create benchmarks.
Compile, generate and disseminate various key performance indicators, reports, analysis, and tasks as assigned and/or required.

Analyze and control suppliers production schedules and stocking programs to ensure a timely flow of materials to production to meet customer schedules.
Utilize analytical concepts and tools to identify issues, resolve problems, and support supply chain planning metrics.

Job Requirements

Education and/or Experience

Bachelor s Degree in Engineering or Business with a Master s Degree in Business preferred
Experience sourcing mechanical commodities preferably in an automotive related industry
Experience in leading teams with a diverse background
10+ years experience working in international Supply Chain sourcing.

Description Purpose of the Position This position is responsible for general management of Videojet's $400MM continuous ink jet (CIJ) global product line within a matrix organization. In direct coordination with Product Planning, Sales, Marketing, Service, Operations, Procurement, R&D, and regions, this individual will ensure quality, profitability, growth and strategic leadership of the assigned product line on a global basis. Scope This role has global P&L responsibility for the success of the overall CIJ franchise business which includes both the equipment as well as IB (supply, parts, and service). Success is defined by market share gain, revenue and profitability growth on a global basis. Key Responsibilities – lead the team to * Product line core growth * Product leadership- work with Product Planning, Regional Product Mgmt. and Marketing teams to ensure superior market analysis, customer needs-based segmentation, VOC, deep competitive analysis and insight, value mapping, and product development to offer a comprehensive, materially differentiated product portfolio. Bet on the right technology innovations to invest in order to sustain superior product portfolio. Perform product/feature trade-offs as needed to optimize return on investment in product line. * Product positioning and value selling- work with Regional Product Mgmt., Marketing, and Sales to drive the success of new product launches, ensuring revenue achievement per TG2 screen - volume growth, share gain, and profitability improvement. * Commercial support- work with Regional Presidents, Service, Technical Support, Training, Regional Product Managers to ensure the product line is optimally supported (e.g., resourced to win and high ROI) and results in the highest possible level of product line penetration and share gain. Help to develop product training material and deliver training to regions on new products and existing portfolio. * Maintenance of line – lead activities to address bugs, updates, upgrades and enhancements, in coordination with Product Planning and Marketing. Provide business guidance and oversight to proposed engineering change orders (ECOs) and special application requests (SARs). * Line change/end of life management – project management of product line obsolescence, to include: developing action plans and managing to timelines; ensuring supply & share position maintenance through transition; supply chain and inventory management/disposition and; support of marketing for communication strategies and execution. * PID coordination- Lead product line coordination between Videojet and Linx to ensure optimal share and profitability of overall Danaher Product ID group. Product line profitability * Price management – partner with the Pricing team to monitor price performance by product and by region and implement necessary pricing actions. Ensure regions know how to value sell against competition. * Cost management - Lead value add/value engineering (VAVE) initiatives to improve product line viability and profitability.
