Blackbaud (Nasdaq: BLKB)-the world's leading cloud software company powering social good, the 24th largest software company in the world, and one of FORTUNE Magazine's "56 Companies Changing the World"-is seeking an experienced Sr. Public Relations Manager at its corporate headquarters in Charleston, SC.

As a member of the Corporate Communications team within the company's dynamic Corporate Marketing department, this individual will be responsible for advancing Blackbaud's brand awareness and visibility in its global markets by driving strategic public announcements, global awards and recognition, and earned media coverage in local, trade and national outlets.

Responsibilities include:

  • Successfully drive the company's strategic, financial and vertical business objectives through Public Relations activities; serve as key strategist and coordination point within the company to prepare news announcements; orchestrate cross-functional teams to implement various aspects of coordinated corporate announcements

  • Establish and maintain relationships with local, regional, trade, and national media outlets to secure positive coverage of the company and its activities; act as primary company spokesperson with members of the media.

  • Collaborate closely with Blackbaud's executive leadership and vertical business leaders on communication strategy; prepare senior executives and business leaders for media/industry engagements, including media interviews, speeches and company/industry event participation; conduct media training with company executives and authorized company spokespersons

  • Develop and maintain content across Blackbaud's external communications channels, including company website, social media channels, blog, and Newsroom; author nominations that highlight both the company and its executives; create bylined thought leadership content on behalf of company executives and business leaders

  • Assess and analyze business performance; prepare and lead media relations monthly business reviews, sharing insights, opportunities and course corrections to keep business performance on track

  • Work with other members of the Corporate Marketing team to integrate messaging across external, internal, and social channels to ensure consistency

  • Oversee the work of third-party partners, such as PR firms and media outlets

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in Communication or related field required; MBA preferred

  • At least 7-10 years of Public Relations experience; combination of corporate communications and agency roles preferred


  • At least 7-10 years of Public Relations experience working directly with the media; proven experience developing and executing media relations programs

  • Experience in both B2B and B2C setting preferred; solid understanding of the high-tech industry also preferred

  • Current national business media relationships strongly preferred

  • Highly effective verbal and written communicator; ability to clearly articulate key messages and distill technical concepts

  • Experienced in strategic marketing measurement/measurement of communication effectiveness

  • Senior strategist who deals well in ambiguity and thrives in fast-paced environments

  • High emotional intelligence and strong executive maturity (due to the high level of executive exposure and engagement) and business acumen

  • Highly effective written and verbal communicator

  • Defines, manages and leads execution of project plans without supervision

  • Use of newswire distribution services

  • AP writing skills for media assets
