Senior Proposal Writer

SOCOTEC is a leading architectural consulting firm providing specialty services for high-profile buildings. Our New York office is seeking a Senior Proposal Writer for our expanding team.

Our team supports SOCOTEC’s specialized ATIC – Architectural group including building envelope, sustainability, energy efficiency, code advisory and commissioning services. This is a full-time role with expectation that minimum of 4 days per week are in-person in office, up to one day per week remote. SOCOTEC offers competitive salary and benefits.

Job Description The Senior Proposal Writer will develop and coordinate request for proposal response packages in InDesign, proposal documents and estimates under the direction of the Proposal Manager. This position is ideal for a self-motivated individual that works well independently and can coordinate multiple proposals through day-to-day interaction with clients and technical team leaders. As a Senior Proposal Writer you will be integral to SOCOTEC’s success, providing a first point of interaction with our clients and defining the services they need.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Participate in daily team scrum to review proposal priorities and progress. Review assigned qualification and proposal requests, assess proposal requirements and identify appropriate team leaders that will provide input on proposal scope and fees.

Develop technical proposals and qualifications packages as needed to meet team deadlines, based on existing proposal templates and qualifications materials, and develop corresponding estimates for level of effort and fees. Conduct research, gather information, and attend meetings that may be needed for specific proposals. Review qualifications packages, proposals and estimates with technical team leaders and update according to their input.

Collaborate with internal Legal and Finance teams as necessary to produce complete qualification and proposal packages. Provide quality control review of proposals prepared by others on the Proposal Writing team to ensure on-time delivery to the prospective client. Contact clients/prospects to obtain any additional information needed to develop the proposal and confirm proposal receipt.

Collect, enter and maintain client and project data in our CRM platform (Deltek). Coordinate with the Proposal Team Manager to develop and maintain templates based on client needs. Perform all other duties as assigned by your supervisor or manager. Qualifications Minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience in proposal writing and estimating, qualifications preparation and staff management, with experience working at an architecture, engineering, marketing or consulting firm.

Exceptional organizational and written communication skills, with a focus on accuracy and attention to detail. Cool under pressure of quick deadlines while juggling multiple proposals at a time. Capable of successfully managing multiple priorities and collaborating with 3-5 team members at a time.

Bachelor’s degree is required: experience in architecture, engineering, or related field is desirable. Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite (especially Adobe InDesign) and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams). Experience with Deltek Vantagepoint is desirable.
