Senior Project Managers at SmartWatt are the master of all things project management for comprehensive energy conservation projects. You oversee your assigned projects from planning to procurement to successful execution. You are not only ensuring that projects run smoothly and get completed on-time, but that customer satisfaction is high, safety and risk management are spot on, the quality is excellent, and there is profitability and positive cash flow.

Our Senior Project Managers contributions to the team include:

  • Collaborating with development teams to create cost budgets and refine scopes of work,
  • Reviewing and approving customer contacts and agreements,
  • Developing, managing, and directing project plans and schedules while proactively identifying project risk management and implementing mitigation strategies,
  • Procuring, managing and coordinating project resources (i.e. material, subcontractors) to ensure effective project delivery which includes timely execution of the project close-out process,
  • Owning and controlling Profit & Loss (P&L) of assigned projects and ensuring projects meet financial targets; this includes owning project billings and collections.

The core components of success are (i.e. must haves):

  • A Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, Business or related, and

  • At least 5 years of experience in Project Management, Project Engineering or a related role, preferably in the Construction industry


  • A High School diploma, and

  • At least 10 years of experience in Project Management, Project Engineering or a related role, preferably in the Construction industry

  • Active Driver's License

The following are a definite plus, so if you've got it be sure to tell us!

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification

  • Experience in MEP project management and/or energy performance contracting (highly preferred)

  • Experience working with local vendors and subcontractors (highly preferred)

  • Experience working within best practices for energy efficiency projects

  • Computer skills; proficiency with the MSOffice Suite, familiarity with scheduling software and/or project management information systems (preferred), and an ability to learn new technologies.

The work environment:

As a Senior Project Manager you will spend about 50-80% of your time out of the office working on customer sites which will require driving, walking and standing during those times. The other 20-50% of your time will be spent in an office setting sitting for prolonged periods of time utilizing the computer and phone. While on customer sites the environment can vary and there is potential to be exposed to hazardous conditions, extreme temperatures and/or dusty or noisy conditions; although this is rare. The position also frequently communicates with customers and co-workers and must be able to exchange accurate information in an understandable way.

The travel required for this position is approximately 50-80% of the time and will be mostly regional.

Support includes cost and schedule control for multiple projects as assigned by the Project Controls Manager.
