Senior Project Managers at SmartWatt are the master of all things project management for comprehensive energy conservation projects. You oversee your assigned projects from planning to procurement to successful execution. You are not only ensuring that projects run smoothly and get completed on-time, but that customer satisfaction is high, safety and risk management are spot on, the quality is excellent, and there is profitability and positive cash flow.

Our Senior Project Managers contributions to the team include:

  • Collaborating with development teams to create cost budgets and refine scopes of work,
  • Reviewing and approving customer contacts and agreements,
  • Developing, managing, and directing project plans and schedules while proactively identifying project risk management and implementing mitigation strategies,
  • Procuring, managing and coordinating project resources (i.e. material, subcontractors) to ensure effective project delivery which includes timely execution of the project close-out process,
  • Owning and controlling Profit & Loss (P&L) of assigned projects and ensuring projects meet financial targets; this includes owning project billings and collections.

The core components of success are (i.e. must haves):

  • A Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, Business or related, and

  • At least 5 years of experience in Project Management, Project Engineering or a related role, preferably in the Construction industry

OR

  • A High School diploma, and

  • At least 10 years of experience in Project Management, Project Engineering or a related role, preferably in the Construction industry

  • Active Driver's License

The following are a definite plus, so if you've got it be sure to tell us!

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification

  • Experience in MEP project management and/or energy performance contracting (highly preferred)

  • Experience working with local vendors and subcontractors (highly preferred)

  • Experience working within best practices for energy efficiency projects

The work environment:

As a Senior Project Manager you will spend about 50-80% of your time out of the office working on customer sites which will require driving, walking and standing during those times. The other 20-50% of your time will be spent in an office setting sitting for prolonged periods of time utilizing the computer and phone. While on customer sites the environment can vary and there is potential to be exposed to hazardous conditions, extreme temperatures and/or dusty or noisy conditions; although this is rare. The position also frequently communicates with customers and co-workers and must be able to exchange accurate information in an understandable way.

The travel required for this position is approximately 50-80% of the time and will be mostly regional.

Essential Role and Responsibilities: * Manage all aspects of a large scale and complex project. * Works with client or NAM to define project scope, schedule and budget * Leads interactions with client and stakeholders to ensure their goals are being considered in execution of the work * Design, communicate, and implement a project plan for completing a project. * Leads safety efforts including preparation and compliance with approved safety plan * Resolve operational problems and minimize delays. * Identify, develop, and gather necessary resources to complete the project. * Prepare designs and work specifications; develop schedules, budgets and forecasts; select materials, equipment, project staff, and contractors. * Estimate costs, resources, and time required to complete. * Prepares forecasts for expenditures and manages scope, schedule to meet budget * Monitor activities, allocate resources, and assign tasks to ensure targets are met. * Partner with other departments or offices to secure specialized resources for the project. * Conduct project meetings and prepare reports to communicate the status of the project within and beyond the project team. * Coach and mentor project staff and assist them to solve problems. * Coordinates with APR to ensure appropriate oversight is in place and sufficient time allowed for quality reviews * Coordinates with accounting for financial management of business intelligence, invoicing and collections * Develop understanding and be aware of project-related risk. Be familiar with what could go wrong on a project and how to protect the Company. Be familiar with company risk policies. * Lead safety efforts for team and ensure team follows safety rules and guidelines. Responsible for creating and modeling a safe work environment; demonstrates safety practices. Requirements: * Bachelor's degree in technical discipline practices by the Firm including Engineering, Environmental Science or Geology and a minimum of 10 years' related experience.
