The Senior Project Manager is responsible for leading teams to deliver projects that span across one or more business units at QIAGEN, with a focus on QIAGEN's Bioinformatics business unit. This includes managing global teams of resources, schedules, and financials, as well as management of issues, risks, and project change requests to ensure successful and on-time project delivery. The project manager will interface with Commerical Operations, as well as customers where appropriate, to set and manage expectations and deliveries.

In this position, the candidate will manage projects across the Bioinformatics portfolio, including services related to QIAGEN Clinical Insight, CLC, OmicSoft, and IPA product lines (among others).

Duties include:

  • Managing a portfolio of complex initiatives that span the Bioinformatics, MDX, Life Sciences, and Commerical Operations business areas

  • Full project lifecycle ownership successful project delivery will encompass everything from helping to draft Statements of Work to ensuring revenue recognition upon delivery

  • Report on project success criteria and results

  • Procuring adequate resources to achieve project objectives in specified timelines

  • Measuring resource usage for post-delivery analysis

  • Act as an internal quality control for the projects

Position Requirements

  • Master of Science, PhD and/or MBA degree is a plus

  • Experience in genomics/ bioinformatics highly desirable

  • Minimum 5 years' experience in project management. PMP certification preferred

  • Experience in developing and implementing complex projects across regions.

The Senior Project Manager works with Project Management, Business Development, Operational Departments, Quality Assurance, Information Technology, and Finance to lead project management duties to support the successful execution of projects and regulatory submissions. The Senior Project Manager will build and manage relationships with existing clients and partners. Senior Project Managers oversee all phases of the project management process. Senior Project Managers understand a project’s scope and lead project transition from Business Development to Operations, manage project initiation both internally and externally, and lead the internal project change management process. Senior Project Managers manage project information within the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) platform to include project tasks, time and budget, track key project metrics and key performance indicators (KPIs), and link to financial information. Senior Project Managers observe existing project management practices and lead process improvement initiatives. </p><p><strong>Requirements</strong></p><p><strong>Primary Responsibilities:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Lead project management activities for regulatory submission projects</li> <li>Work directly with assigned client and partner accounts to ensure successful end-to-end execution of assigned projects</li> <li>Coordinate with Project Management, Business Development, Operational Departments, and Quality Assurance to conduct regular strategic and/or governance meetings with assigned clients and partners </li> <li>Lead successful project transition from Business Development to Operations </li> <li>Provides training and support to Functional Leads and Management to ensure successful execution of projects</li> <li>Ensures project scope of work and deliverable requirements are well coordinated with internal staff and responsible for identifying and communicating contract scope creep as early as possible</li> <li>Leads each step of the contract amendment life-cycle across all functions </li> <li>Manage project tasks, time and budgets, track key project metrics, and key performance indicators (KPIs) within the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) platform and link to financial information (billing milestones, etc.) </li> <li>Proactively identify project quality, scope, budget, or client/partner issues and manage escalation as appropriate to ensure resolution</li> <li>Manages day to day PM activities </li> <li>Manage/mentor other Project Management staff as assigned </li> <li>Coordinate internal and external cross-functional areas regarding PM functions</li> <li>Ensure compliance to all corporate and departmental standard operating procedures</li> <li>Represent SDC and PM at internal meetings, sponsor meetings, regulatory meetings, and any other multifunctional meetings</li> <li>Adheres to all aspects of the SDC’s Quality Management System</li> <li>Complies with SDC’s data integrity &amp; business ethics requirements</li> <li>Ability to travel when necessary</li> <li>Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein</li> </ul> <p><strong>Required Skills:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Experience leading regulatory submission projects </li> <li>Knowledge of Project Management methodologies</li> <li>Familiarity with clinical trial design and basic knowledge of regulatory guidelines (FDA/CFR, ICH/GCP) </li> </ul> <ul> <li>Comprehensive understanding of contracts and contract amendment life-cycle</li> <li>Demonstrated ability to effectively manage projects to tight timelines and within budgets</li> <li>Solid independent, critical thinking ability and demonstrated ability to discern multiple viewpoints</li> <li>Ability to identify issues, present problems, and implement solutions efficiently and effectively</li> <li>Capability of communicating complex concepts clearly, concisely, and understandably to non-expert colleagues</li> <li>Strong ability to motivate company personnel to meet project requirements</li> <li>Ability to be tactfully tenacious</li> <li>Strong interpersonal communication and presentation skills </li> <li>Good computer skills to include strong knowledge of MS Office suite of software and/or other project management software</li> <li>Working knowledge and understanding of ICH Guidelines for Good Clinical Practice and Title 21 of the Code of Federal Regulations</li> </ul><p><br></p><p><strong>Education or Equivalent Experience:</strong></p> <ul><li>A bachelor’s degree, preferably in engineering, applied or life sciences or business is required.
