Position Summary

Exciting opportunity to be a Project Manager focused on new product development and commercialization for a variety of Next Generation Sequencing projects. In addition to the criteria below, the ideal candidate must be a skilled team leader with strong negotiation and influencing skills, be able to work independently, handle multiple tasks in parallel, and communicate effectively with all levels of the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Primary PM on small to medium genetic sequencing projects/programs with a multidisciplinary technical scope:

  • Provides management and leadership skills to drives execution on project goals

  • Collaborate cross-functionally to create, execute and communicate overall project plans (scope, schedule, staffing plans, quality, risk management, budget, and procurement) and revise them appropriately to meet changing project needs and requirements

  • Identify needs for changes to plan and communicate them to the team and stakeholders to ensure program goals are in alignment with business objectives

  • Schedule and lead phase gate reviews with an executive approval committee

  • Identify and resolve or escalate program issues, facilitate tradeoff decisions, and remove obstacles

  • Ensure product development efforts adhere to internal processes and design control standards

  • Continuously analyze and manage risks to enable successful project completion

  • Define and optimize project management and development processes, methodologies, and tools to improve organizational efficiency and effectiveness

  • Apply best practices and knowledge of internal/external business challenges to improve products

  • Contribute to product development process or PMO function improvement initiatives

Experience\Knowledge Requirements

  • Familiar with In Vitro Diagnostics and FDA and CE-IVD regulated product development processes

  • Expert at project scheduling using MS Project, including dependencies and critical path determination and optimization

  • Command of project budget management

  • Accomplished at resource scheduling and loading

  • Comfortable applying basic principles of Design For Six Sigma to a project

  • Command of most topics in the PM Body Of Knowledge (PMBOK)

  • Familiar with genetic sequencing principles or sequencing devices

Education Requirements

  • Requires a Bachelor's degree in a science or engineering discipline or equivalent and typically a minimum of 5 years of product development experience in a regulated industry with 2 years as a project manager

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification preferred

This position is knowledgeable in building systems and construction methods specifically in a health care environment. This position develops concepts and plans for facility growth or change in service as well as capital upkeep and replacement. The key role of this position is advisor to each individual facility managing director to assist in growth planning and implementation, as it relates to buildings and facility campus. A Mentoring relationship will be required. Essential Job Duties Work closely with RVP, C-suite, RFM/DPO, FF&E and IT in the development of project scope and price. Works closely with user groups to learn all aspects of user requirements in order to provide effective advice and recommendation. Ensure projects are completed on budget and schedule and that the projects incorporate the latest Behavioral Health/Acute best practices. Have the ability to manage multiple, large projects at one time with some supervision. Develop/engage project teams using a competitive RFP process. Assist in guiding project through local, State and Federal building restrictions and code compliance. Accurate budgeting, scheduling, logistics, ICRA, ILSM from conception through completion. Follow the CAR/PAC process for pre-validation, validation and request for full funding. Take a leadership role in finding new methods/approaches to help execute work faster and more efficiently. Challenge assumptions and bring new ideas to the table that could benefit the entire department in executing our role. Maintain a vendor ranking and ensure we reinforce success by re-engaging firms that perform excellent work and value the relationships in the system. Collecting historical cost and schedule data to utilize in predicting future cost and time to execute projects (send to corporate at projection completion). Ensure all parties on the project have executed a contract and have provided all the required insurances prior to commencing work. Ensure the highest ethical standards when dealing with our vendors. Ensure vendors compliant with the terms of the agreement and that the business terms agreed are fair to both the vendor. Use business term guidelines.
