As key contributor to OMRON Microscan's Auto ID and Machine Vision software engineering teams, the Senior Project Manager is in charge of schedules, budgets, resources and deliverables for assigned engineering projects. To meet this goal, they will monitor and drive our teams to make sure goals and objectives are being kept. This task will require the project manager to clearly express their knowledge of larger landscape without neglecting granular details while tracking project health, staying alert for risk and resolving issues as they arise. Importantly, the Project Manager will maintain and monitor project standards and scope with project quality.


Project Management

  • Develop project scopes and objectives, involving all relevant stakeholders and ensuring technical feasibility.

  • Coordinate internal resources and third parties/vendors for flawless execution of projects.

  • Ensure all projects are delivered on-time, within scope and within budget.

  • Ensure resource availability and allocation.

  • Develop a detailed project plan to track progress.

  • Use appropriate change management processes to manage changes in project scope, schedule, and costs.

  • Measure project performance using appropriate systems, tools, and techniques.

  • Report and escalate to management as needed.

  • Manage the relationship with all stakeholders.

  • Perform risk assessment and management to minimize project risks.

  • Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation.

  • Prepare, manage, and present at milestone meetings including all required documentation.


  • Present project and product reviews to management and internal stakeholders.

  • Create periodic reports for management and internal stakeholders.

  • Work with other disciplines within Microscan to ensure system integration and success for marketing, sales and manufacturability of the product.

  • Research and recommend technical tools that can enhance the company's project management capabilities.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant Engineering discipline with a Master's degree preferred

  • Ten years of experience in project management for an engineering company with an emphasis on NPD

  • Proven solid technical background with experience in New Product Development for electronics or similar complex technology

  • Demonstrated understanding to level of discerning risk and decision making

  • Documented experience working in Agile teams

  • Proven leadership skills, especially in managing dotted line relationships across multiple disciplines

  • A demonstrated solid technical background with an understanding or hands-on experience in software, firmware, and electronics development

  • Demonstrated ability in selecting appropriate components and materials to meet the needs of project requirements and product specifications

  • Proven strong analytical and organizational skills

  • Proven excellent communication skills (verbal, written and presentation) as represent by effective communications for all levels of internal staff

  • Valid and current driver's license and the ability to travel 5% of the time

Preferred Qualifications

  • PMP certification and PMO experience

  • Certification or Belt in Lean and/or Six Sigma (LSS)

  • Demonstrated ability to use statistics to corroborate data driven decisions

Characteristics of responsible projects: Complexity: High Risk: High Duration: Long term (months to year(s)) Value: Typically >$2 Million USD ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Manages all facets of project management (budget, schedule, procurement, quality & risk) for individual real estate projects including planning, design, construction, occupancy and closeout. Demonstrates capability to read, understand and apply standard to complex documents affecting real estate projects, including but not limited to: agreements/contracts, leases, work letters, project charters, surveys and drawings. Interfaces directly with clients to define project requirements. Prepares scope of work, project delivery resource requirements, cost estimate & budget, cash flow, work plan schedule & milestones, quality control, and risk identification. Identifies project delivery resources from pre-qualified lists or through individual project qualification process; conducts standard to complex request for proposals; completes bid analysis; leads evaluation interviews, recommends resources to clients. Leads project delivery resources/team (typically larger more experienced team) providing project guidance and direction to achieve project goals. Implements communication plan for meetings and written reports/meeting minutes to keep client and project resources informed. Facilitates project meetings. Implement project documentation governance aligned with company and client requirements. Ensure project data integrity and documentation is accurate, timely and coordinated. Tracks progress of each project against goals, objectives, approved budgets, approved timelines. Reports status and variances. Creates action plans to meet objectives, budget and schedule. Implements change management routines to assess change requests, make recommendations, secure client approvals, and issue change orders. Assesses change requests to determine impacts to scope, budget, schedule, quality and risk. Demonstrates ability to identify complex project risks, lead constructability reviews, develop risk mitigation and contingency plans, and implement action plans to reduce or eliminate project risks. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES Provides formal supervision to individual employees within single functional or operational area. Approves subordinate's recommendations for staff recruitment, selection, promotion, advancement, corrective action and termination. Effectively recommends same for direct reports to next level management for review and approval. Plans and monitors appropriate staffing levels and utilization of labor, including overtime. Prepares and delivers performance appraisal for staff. Mentors and coaches team members to further develop competencies. Leads by example and models behaviors that are consistent with the company's values. Manages 3rd party project delivery resources/team (typically larger more experienced team). Responsible for identifying training needs, tracking performance, coaching, and motivating team members.
