Senior Project Manager

Location: Huntsville, AL

Opportunity

Support Kohler Company's growth by providing Project Management services for the design and construction of new processes, facility expansions and facility renovations. Assure compliance with regulations, Kohler Company standards, local codes, standards and laws and customer defined project goals and objectives. Manage the development of a project's scope and content and ensure efficient implementation, rigid cost control/schedule adherence and high quality of the facility design and construction.

  • Understand and manage project expectations through frequent contacts/meetings.

  • Participate in, contribute, and drive towards defining Customer business cases, white papers, project scope and content.

  • Develop project budgets, schedules, quality standards and identify project support and documentation requirements.

  • Communicate the project to supporting departments and direct their activities to provide expertise as required by project scope, roles and responsibilities, and content.

  • Supervise supporting associates in the development of project documentation to include specifications and design documents to support project content, goals and objectives.

  • Implement the design and construction phase of the project through preparation of bid documents, performing contractor qualification and selection, and contracting for required design and construction services and equipment purchases.

  • Manage the implementation phase of the project through monitoring and controlling the design and construction activities and their impact on project budget and schedule while ensuring compliance with construction documentation and obtaining required approvals and permits.

  • Provide contract administration by managing supplier's work sequence, schedule, safety, payment applications, design and installation quality and taking corrective action as required, culminating with final acceptance of the completed work.

  • Administer the close of contracts issued and ensure delivery of all necessary documentation to the business group responsible for operations of the facility.

  • Prepare detailed and summary project reports for management presentation.

  • Travel domestically and/or internationally up to 20% average per year. Short-term peak travel periods could be up to 30%.

Skills/Requirements

Requires B.S. degree in engineering or science with a minimum of 5 - 10 years of related experience in the field of facility design, construction and project management. Intimate knowledge within degreed field of engineering and a working knowledge of engineering fields related to facility and process design and improvements.

Strong organizational, communication and interpersonal skills are essential. Position is action oriented requiring the incumbent to creatively plan and execute facility design and construction programs with limited resources. Professional Registration is desirable but not required.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES * Create project plan(s) and manage resources to ensure project schedule, budget, quality, and specification goals are attained. * Oversee and monitor project schedule, timelines, and milestones from initiation to delivery to meet delivery goals. * Coordinate departmental and/or cross-functional teams to assign and prioritize tasks focused on delivering new or upgrading existing products and/or services. * Develop and track project plans for programs of record to include resource loading, schedules, budgets, forecasts, and status reports. * Author subcontractor Statements of Work and manage subcontractor performance. * Manage risk, identify and resolve issues, and expand the current business by identifying and winning new business opportunities. * Assign and monitor work of project management staff, providing technical support and direction when necessary. * Interpret and administer policies, processes and procedures that impact project(s). * Develop and deliver progress reports, proposals, requirements documentation, and presentations. * Collaborate across management and project team to expand services and potential business opportunities. * Ensure compliance with environmental and other regulations. * Identify and assess project issues and develop solutions to meet productivity, quality and customer satisfaction goals and objectives. * Provide leadership, direction, and guidance to employees working on assigned project.
