Sema4 is seeking a Senior Project Manager, Information Engineering and Delivery. Operating independently, under the broad guidance of the Senior Director, Information Engineering and Delivery. The ideal candidate will be accountable for the end-to-end execution of the design, development and delivery of use-cases for our Enterprise Data and Analytics Data Model. Responsibilities include supporting the development and execution of project strategies in collaboration with key team members and ensuring that the team adheres to the cost, time, and scope set forth in the product plan.


  • Ability to independently manage project teams and collaborations with third parties, internal research projects, etc.

  • Develop project milestones and deliverables; prepare reports that summarize key progress and issues on projects across the department and the institute, including preparation of background documents and presentations to Management.

  • Guide teams through the effective execution of management-approved strategic plans for assigned projects; this includes ensuring risk management plans are fully developed, contracts are agreed upon and adhered to, change control procedures are followed when significant program deviations are encountered, communications within and external to the team are effective, and approved team resources and budgets are appropriately planned and managed.

  • Ensure project data is accurately reported in databases and understood by team members, including information used to derive costs, schedule, resources, and any other data pertinent to creation and management of project plans.

  • Ensure that team meetings have structure and clear purposes and goals; facilitate meetings effectively and clearly communicate decisions and action items to team members and relevant parties outside of the team.

  • Monitor team dynamics regularly to ensure optimal team performance resolving conflicts and issues as they arise

  • Monitor processes and ensure that those responsible are informed of their effectiveness; advocate for and contribute to the success of change / process improvements when warranted.

  • Provide input into the evaluation and revision of processes and tools used to support the projects, meetings, etc. as appropriate.

  • Will work to push new clinical assays through whole life cycle, including technical validations, regulatory submission and approvals, training, resource management and workflow

  • Actively participate in or lead continuous improvement initiatives that require project management experience

  • Partner with Project Management Operations to implement best practices across project teams e.g., resource capacity planning, project risk management, team performance, timeline development, portfolio management

  • Ensures all staffing requirements and allotment of available resources to various phases of project met. May evaluate vendors and consultants and their effectiveness and ability to deliver as promised

  • Take relevant training courses to increase knowledge and understanding of the discipline of project management in the pharma and healthcare industries and to improve leadership skills.


  • Bachelors degree required. Masters degree in relevant area highly preferred

  • 5+ years of healthcare/pharmaceutical/biotech industry experience highly preferred

  • 5+ years of project management experience in IT or Data Management or Analytics domains

  • 2-5 years of project management or related experience

  • Experience supporting complex cross-functional projects required, and previous experience diagnostic testing or product development desired

  • Proven project management and problem-solving experience, with demonstrated ability to develop practical solutions to unstructured problems with limited oversight

  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills for executive level communication and collaboration required

  • Strong quantitative and analytical capabilities, with ability to synthesize complex information into simplified, user-friendly, persuasive formats and presentations

  • Advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills required

  • PMP certification preferred

Project Management Assistance: * Assist in projects from inception to completion through all steps of the project management process - requirements gathering, design, implementation, launch, and transition to maintenance. * Assist with project planning, scheduling and tracking of tasks utilizing standard PM tools (Gantt Charts, task lists, etc. * Working with ops, maintenance, and management to complete projects on time and on budget. Project Coordination: * Research items online, through OEMS, and on the phone to be ordered for pricing, availability, and delivery lead-time. Also research and recommend other options for equipment. Present options and gain consensus with project manager. * Order processing and Tracking: Entering orders into OEMS, track approvals and follow up, answer questions, work with sourcing on PO creation, and document and track ordering in MS Excel. Work with Techlog to ensure orders are received physically by opening boxes, identifying parts, and ensuring correct delivery in the building and in OEMS, ensure delivery and/or deliver to project area. * Ensure up to date tracking on the financial tracking sheet of project expenses, receiving, and miscellaneous spending. Communicate any risks or issues with PM. Diligent tracking of end of quarter and end of year receiving. Running SAP/OEMS reports and keeping detailed logs of all orders and receipts for both Capex and Opex needs. * Coordinate weekly meetings with finance team to review spend to date, pending commitments as well as tracking of invoicing on completed orders. * Tracking receipt of goods, receipt of invoices and working with the PM and finance team on quarterly and year end close tracking.
