JOB SUMMARY:

Scope of Work

  • Main duties, settings, geography, reporting relationships, and other relationships:

This position of Senior Project Manager will be responsible for the planned activities between the CLPA Program (Climate Leadership and Community Protection Act) and BES Programs in integrated projects, to deliver major Capital Expenditure Projects for the NYSEG and RG&E companies located in New York, this Senior Project Manager will be in charge to develop and lead teams of Project Managers, Schedulers, Budget Analysts, and support staff. Lead integration of best practices across the companies following Avangrid's standard practices. Ensure project resources have the correct toolsets and processes in place and that all relevant staff is trained and equipped to successfully deliver their work. The position is responsible for the delivery of business and regulatory requirements within the Project Management Organization.

MAJOR ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (Scope of work - range of responsibilities):

  • Provides technical expertise and leadership on various Company projects and programs. The initial focus of this position will be to manage customer-funded projects associated with new or expanded loads or new or expanded generator interconnections.

  • Supports Customer Representatives and Interconnections teams in the planning and development of agreements with customers.

  • Administers contracts including preparation and approval of change orders when appropriate. May participate in contract negotiations when necessary.

  • Interfacing with municipal stakeholders and local permitting agencies

  • Works within the project unit, managing internal and external project resources.

  • Oversees project budgets. Analyzes project performance and initiates actions to control scope, schedule, and cost performance. A proactive approach to overseeing work measures progress and takes actions to ensure budgets and deadlines are achieved. Approves project plans executes contract strategies to undertake work and controls and authorizes expenditures. Initiates actions to ensure compliance with project management and quality management processes and procedures.

  • Assures that projects are completed within the approved scope, schedule, and budget

  • Coordinates with other departments, consultants, attorneys, utilities, municipal stakeholders local permitting agencies, regulatory agencies, government agencies, and major customers. May represent the company and testify in regulatory hearings or at Federal, State, local agency, or municipal meetings.

  • Considers innovative ways to undertake work, promoting automation and efficiencies in day-to-day work streams

  • Provides recommendations on policies and goals desired and implements new/revised processes and procedures according to established guidelines

  • Informs management and project teams regarding cost and schedule performance variances and corrective action required.

  • Responsible for ensuring the risk control system is utilized.

  • Responsible for Risk definition, cost, and the Mitigation Action analysis.

  • Continually monitors individual progress to ensure meeting of specific deadlines.

  • Participates in project team scheduling and budgetary planning processes.

  • Responsible for Project accountability overview, making sure that it complies with FERC, NERC, and any other applicable regulation.

  • Attendance to Cost & Schedule Meetings

  • Attendance to Executive management meetings, providing and presenting reports and cost-schedule-risk views as required.

  • Communicate with customers the requirements for interconnection and any changes to scope, schedule, or budget.

  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure their needs are met.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Education & Experience Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or Business management required.

  • 6-8 years relevant experience in the project management field required.

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification is required or must be obtained within 1 year of entry to the position.

  • Demonstrated experience in leading large teams.

  • Experience leading the implementation of complex initiatives/projects.

  • Demonstrated understanding of utility operations, stakeholders, and customer interaction.

  • Direct experience in business case development and benefits capture.

  • Demonstrated experience in the execution of strategic objectives.

  • Proven track record of achieving results in high-pressure and high-profile assignments.

Skills/Abilities:

  • Energizing leader who possesses strong interpersonal communication and facilitation skills, is detail-oriented, thorough, and results-focused.

  • Self-starter able to work well in new and undefined environments.

  • Strong skills in following up and following through with action items and dependencies.

  • Adept at putting together business cases to support project and program objectives.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including formal presentation skills.

  • Possess the ability to work across organizational lines within the company and influence key internal executives and line managers.

  • Must be able to support and drive implementation of the agreed-upon strategies.

  • Flexible and willing to step up to take on tasks beyond a job description as required.

  • Lead the development of organizational metrics and reporting frameworks.

  • Drive a practice of continuous improvement - using data to drive constant improvement efficiency.

  • Proven track record of being a strong team player with a results-oriented attitude.

  • Utilization of risk management to ensure achievement of results.

  • Proven ability to work within a matrix environment, including geographically dispersed teams.
