Position Highlights

Great-West is hiring an experienced Senior Project Manager to join our Program Management Office team of professionals. This role will be responsible for managing Application Development, Business and/or Infrastructure programs and projects. Under general supervision, responsible for managing all aspects of diverse, moderately complex to complex Application Development, Business and/or Infrastructure projects, including project planning, execution, scope, quality and cost control. Providing leadership on work priorities, coaching cross functional teams and providing technical and analytical guidance to project teams.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Ensuring projects are delivered on time, on budget and that the project scope is controlled.

  • Completion of comprehensive status reports.

  • Employing sound project management principles and critical thinking.

  • Keeps team and manager informed of progress, issues that impact the achievement of goals.

  • Provides a single point of contact for those projects.

  • Takes projects from original concept through final implementation.

  • Develops detailed work plans, schedules, project estimates, resource plans, and status reports.

  • Conducts project meetings and is responsible for project tracking and analysis.

  • Ensures adherence to quality standards and reviews project deliverables.

  • Provides technical guidance to project team.

  • Recommends and takes action to direct the analysis and solutions of problems.

  • Utilizes expertise and leadership skills to direct project team and to resolve issues to ensure project goals and requirements are met.

  • Communicates with end-users to provide timely and accurate information and status updates.

  • Other duties as assigned.


  • Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Information Management, or Business. Master Degree preferred.

  • MBA, PMI PMP certification, PMI-ACP certification, industry experience, Planview experience

  • PMP certification strongly preferred.

  • PMI-ACP certification strongly preferred.

  • Minimum of 5 years project management experience with demonstrated results.

  • Project Management skills to successfully manage complex software development projects throughout the entire SDLC.

  • Demonstrated proficiency in PM methodology, Program Management and Software Development Lifecycle

  • Experience with Planview preferred.

  • High energy, strong team player, creative thinker and strategic influencer

  • Strong financial, project management and resource analytical skills

  • Strong influencing skills. Comfort with negotiating and driving timely decisions (rather than consensus) when required.

  • Demonstrated high level of diplomacy and tact in communicating with leadership.

  • Strong communications skills (written and verbal), and comfortable with presentations and public speaking.

  • The ideal candidate will be a polished professional with demonstrated ability to maintain a productive working relationship with a core working team and various levels of management.

  • Expert understanding of Microsoft Office e.g., MS Project, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
