Reporting to the Manager, Business Support Services, the Senior Project Manager is responsible for leading multi-disciplinary project teams through all phases of the project life cycle. Through strong leadership and project delivery acumen, they will strive to achieve all project performance targets - delivering on time, on budget, on quality, and meeting / surpassing project sponsor satisfaction. They are responsible for the project management process documents and templates.ResponsibilitiesLeadership
Develop and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders
Champion projects in partnership with the project sponsor to ensure project benefits are understood across the project team
Ensure customer expectation and satisfaction are met or exceeded on all projects and the customer’s best interests are represented
Assist the project team in understanding and embracing change
Coach and mentor junior and intermediate project managers, when applicable.
Be the Manager, Business Support Services’ officer in charge when required
Strategy/Planning
Be an advocate within the organization and constantly look for ways to improve the project management framework and templates in order to better meet the needs of the organization
Involved in the selection process of 3rd party project management resources / applications when applicable
Technical
Manage programs, projects, rapid releases and efixes through the project management lifecycle.
Participate in establishing the project team by gathering input from stakeholders, identifying needs and skills required, making staffing recommendations and providing leadership and direction to project team members. Team member performance issues/concerns are escalated to appropriate lead.
Work with project team leads to schedule resources to work as efficiently and effectively as possible
Maximize project team performance by providing team members with a clear sense of direction and an understanding of their respective responsibilities
Ensure effective control of projects; address conflicting priorities, issues, risks, dependencies and change
Day to day management of 3rd party vendors assigned to projects, when applicable
Work across teams to ensure production readiness of project deliverable and seamless transition to support
Manage stakeholder expectations, and ensure timely, accurate and pertinent information sharing and status updates
Chair various meetings including the management status update meetings and project closure meetings
Manage the project management processes and templates. Complete annual reviews and update as needed
Manage multiple initiatives concurrently
Drive financial predictability and accuracy via project financial forecasting and reports as agreed with the project sponsor; and CFO if the project is being reported to the Board
Prepare board level project presentations, reports and updates
Prepare and deliver executive level presentations, reports and updates
What you bring to the role? Experience & Educational Qualifications
PMP Certification (or equivalent) in good standing. PMP preferred.
Scrum Master certification
8+ years project management experience delivering large complex IT projects
2+ years program management preferred.
Hands on experience leveraging both Waterfall and Agile project management methodologies
Effective facilitation, persuasion and negotiation abilities to achieve consensus, resolve conflict and achieve desired outcomes
Ability to work effectively under time pressure to meet deadlines, balance work priorities, resolve problems in a timely manner and escalate appropriately
Exemplary customer service skills - strong desire to help internal and external users
Ability to efficiently work in virtual teams
Availability to work occasional weekends and evenings to meet project deadlines
Pay range for this role is $69,000 - $127,000Actual salary for the role may vary depending on the work location of the successful candidate and other factors including but not limited to, skills, education, experience, working conditions and the local labour market. In addition to base pay, eligible employees may participate in various incentive plans which are paid out at the company's discretion and subject to individual and company performance.We also take potential into consideration.
