JOB SUMMARY:

The Sr. Project Manager is responsible for the planning, execution, and control of cost on one or more projects for a variety of clients. Specific project responsibilities include: development and implementation of safety and quality control plans, project staffing, work plans, subcontractor management, materials and supplies ordering, logistics management, financial reporting, and cost forecasting. The Sr. Project Manager will also work with estimators in aspects of the estimating process.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Lead the process working with the Estimator, Superintendent, Health Safety and Environmental Officers, Project Engineers, and Foremen to plan, organize and direct activities to successfully perform project.

  • Assist the Operations Manager for any scheduling needs and project requirements as needed.

  • Establish project objectives, policies, procedures, and performance standards within the boundaries of corporate policy and contract specifications.

  • Oversee drafting and implementation of a project specific safety plan. Review job loss analysis' (JLA's) for applicability and compliance.

  • Ensure quality control plan is implemented and aligns with contract documents.

  • Monitor and control project utilizing onsite management staff to ensure project is completed on schedule and within budget.

  • Revise working budget with client representatives as needed.

  • Maintain project schedule and project completion deliverables and communicate this information to Operations Manager, owner, and subcontractors on a regular basis.

  • Work with Operations Manager to maintain the financial records of the contract to protect company interest and maintain good relations with customers and subcontractors.

  • Update and review with upper management projected contract revenue, cost to complete, and cash flow projections monthly.

  • Accurately update forecast and received fields in the Incurred Cost Reports (ICR) weekly.

  • Requisition supplies and materials to complete projects as needed.

  • Acquire necessary permits.

  • Ensure compliance with conditions and reporting requirements.

  • Interpret and explain plans and contract terms to administrative staff including job cost coding and quantity tracking.

  • Prepare project equipment lists, utilization forecasts, mobilization schedules, maintenance, and repair needs.

  • Represent company in project meetings.

  • Update the pricing of change impacts as required.

  • Prepare and maintain bid calendar and ensure timely completion of estimates and job hand off.

  • Assist with managing the estimating job folders.

  • Work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Supervise some project staff as needed.

Job Requirements

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:

  • Technical knowledge of various field construction concepts, practices, and procedures.

  • Knowledge of construction, architectural, and building industry standard operating practices/procedures.

  • Knowledge of basic revenue models, project ledger, and cost-to-completion projections.

  • Knowledge of rate reimbursable contracts.

  • Knowledge of remote location construction projects.

  • Knowledge of construction project scheduling, subcontracts, submittals, quality control and safety.

  • Knowledge of construction related software such as Autodesk Civil 3D, HCSS HeavyBid, HCSS HeavyJob and Spectrum accounting software

  • Ability to prepare accurate budgets and cost estimates; knowledge of fiscal management principles and procedures.

  • Skill in organizing resources, establishing priorities, meeting deadlines and general time management.

  • Ability to create, read, and understand complex documents, construction plans and specification.

  • Ability to use standard business computer and applications, specifically computer software programs used in estimating, Microsoft Office Suite, Microsoft Project, to name a few.

  • Skill with negotiations on behalf of the company

  • Ability to gather data, compile information, and prepare reports.

  • Effective professional communication and interpersonal skills with regard to:

  • Internal and external written, graphical, and verbal communications to include routine reports and correspondence

  • Ability to develop and conduct presentations.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management required. Work-related experience and equivalent skills may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.

  • Three years' experience in addition to formal education in civil construction project management required.

  • Fifteen (15) years' experience managing projects preferably in the heavy civil construction and federal markets.

  • Experience with Autodesk Civil 3D, HCSS HeavyBid, HCSS HeavyJob and Spectrum accounting software preferred.

  • Must have a valid driver's license and be qualified to operate a vehicle under the conditions of Company Driving Policy.

  • Ability to pass a drug, driving and background screening.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT:

Includes both office setting and field time. Field work requires travel to remote locations via small planes, boats and vehicles. Work hours in the field may greatly exceed schedule shown. Accommodations may be rustic.
