Title: Senior Project Manager

Div/Dept: Information Technology

Location: IO

Reporting Relationship: CIO during the next few months as Acting moving to Director, Strategic Planning and Portfolio Management when permanent


Responsible for the overall direction, coordination, implementation, execution, control, and completion of specific technology projects to ensure consistency with organizational strategy, commitments, and goals.


  • Ensures all projects are well managed, documented, and complete

  • Accountable for project scope, schedule, and budget management

  • Works with users and peers in planning, developing, implementing, and supporting new or existing applications. Analyzes, documents, and re-engineers business processes

  • Collects and defines requirements; translates into functional design documents; and participates in the technical design, test planning, and user documentation processes

  • Develops project schedules and leads a team of technical resources to deliver on requirements

  • Identifies resource needs and helps to staff teams accordingly

  • Manages risks and issues to minimize impacts on the projects and portfolio

  • Ensures project reporting and regular communication to the project leadership, customer, sponsor, and IT leadership

  • Participates in software or infrastructure design, prototyping, construction, and testing of new or enhanced applications or builds

  • Assists in training users on new or enhanced applications

  • Works with business teams to create test documentation (test plans, test cases, and test scripts) and manages the execution of user acceptance testing.

Senior Project Manager


  • Minimum 8 years of experience in the following areas:

  • Project management leading cross-functional teams

  • Gathering and documenting user requirements

  • Personnel management and/or relationship management

  • Project lifecycle software development

  • Facilitation of user acceptance testing

  • Ability to set direction, manage expectations, and lead cross-functional teams that are geographically dispersed

  • Ability to influence and coordinate third parties and suppliers

  • Excellent problem-solving skills, communication, adaptability, and ability to manage multiple requests/projects

  • A strong commitment to customer service

  • Demonstrated experience in incorporating new technologies in a business environment


Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or Information Systems or closely related discipline or equivalent relevant work experience is preferred. PMP Certification, Certified Scrum Master (CSM) certification, Business Systems Analysis certification (CSBA) is also preferred.

This role is in support of a multi-year program that is still considered confidential, non-public. Applicants may be asked to sign a non-disclosure agreement prior to interviewing. The specific role will serve as workstream-level change lead for a sub-component of a larger program. Depending on the complexity of the workstream, role may be assigned to support more than one workstream or function. The employee will be partnered with a line-of-business leader or subject-matter-expert. Senior Project Manager will be responsible for analyzing present-state, developing future-state approaches and facilitating implementation of solutions. Candidate must be willing to potentially learn a new line of business or function, and demonstrate a willingness to fully partner with business subject-matter-experts, not solely manage through a standardized process and tools. This position will be highly-visible, and requires a person who is very comfortable with fast-paced work, demanding timelines, and executive oversight. Must have strong written skills, and be comfortable presenting to senior leaders. Required skills and experience include: * Experience in working with Underwriting, either as a core job function or in project management is highly desirable * Ability to operate in a fast-paced environment. * Six-plus years of change management experience * Understanding of Bank of America Enterprise Change Standards, Policy and Tools * Experience working in multiple Bank lines of business, ideally with exposure to product, strategy development, and transition-like execution. Consideration will be given to comparable experience for external candidates. * Strong, confident presentation skills, the ability to synthesize information, and communicate clearly and succinctly with stakeholders. * PMP or six-sigma certification is a plus, but not a requirement. Enterprise Role Overview - Responsible for projects limited in scope to LOB products, processes or functions although some may have cross-functional or inter-departmental implications. Serves as primary contact to senior department managers for critical change initiatives. Responsible for analyzing present-state, developing alternative future-state approaches and facilitating implementation. Responsible for clearly defined responsibilities and accountabilities for key project roles. Assesses the adoption risk associated with the change effort. Communicate risks and rewards associated with decisions and actions to stakeholders in business-oriented terms and ensure all controls are in place to sustain risk mitigation. Identifies, develops and executes strategies and supporting tactics to engage and influence all stakeholders to make needed behavioral changes. Creates a clear, coherent approach to guide effective program/initiative setup, execution and control. Leads the Adoption & Sustainment of Change. Identifies and makes recommendations regarding work that will potentially proceed, be delayed or stopped when environment changes occur. This role may manage a team of resources and budget. Excellent project management skills, including the ability to prioritize work and meet deadlines. Typically 5+ plus years of project management experience.
