Tetra Pak Inc. is seeking a Senior Project Leader to join our team in Winsted, Minnesota.
Drive and follow through on the engineering activities of the project with focus on quality, resources, and time planning within the technical deliverables with process engineering team, automation engineering team, mechanical engineering team, and electrical engineering team. Manage the coordination of multiple engineering teams located worldwide.
Be the technical contact person towards client and main sub-contractors. Set strategy for all engineering documentation: type, format, naming, etc. Establish plans for collaboration of different engineering department documentation and a plan for document transmittal.
Ensure technical design meets all applicable legal standards and regulations, all food safety best practices, and occupational health & safety (OHS). Ensure hygienic risk assessments of all engineering solutions are completed, which included implementation strategy for the engineering part as defined in the contract. Create type and technical level of documents and carried out time plan. Develop production solution designs.
Design and implement processing systems for the cheese and milk/whey processing plants. Develop complete detailed process and instrumentation drawings (PIDS) for dairy liquid milk, cheese and whey processing systems. Ensure system design, which included clean-in-place (CIP) systems, comply with customer specifications, company standards, and state/federal regulations.
Prepare system estimates and customer proposal documents. Create, coordinate and develop plant and equipment layouts, 2D installation drawings and 3D piping installation drawings. Develop, document and maintain company process engineering standards / guidelines. assist with system installation, commissioning and process start-ups as required.
Prepare complete system designs for presentation to customers. assist sales with customer presentations. Define design requirements for raw materials process by products and final products. Define scope of supply and division of responsibilities.
Carry out calculations such as mass/energy balance and production time scheduling to quantify equipment and determine capacity, utilizing consumption estimation and calculation. Review of process functional diagrams and functional description for overall process solution. Design and develop detailed process solutions in accordance with relevant local or international regulatory organizations (USDA, FDA, 3A). Communicate with suppliers for quotations.
Support sales team on writing technical commercial documentation. Reviewing, designing, specifying and calculating process components such as processing pipe lines, pumps, process sanitary & non-sanitary valves, mixing equipment's, storage units and their integration components and instruments. Coordinate and execute design reviews, risk assessments and take adequate measures to contain and mitigate possible issues.
Review of process functional specifications and deliver relevant information to automation engineers designing automation and control systems. Coordinate schedule, delivery and lead time of process components on site for installation. Drive internal factory acceptance tests (FAT) by simulating automation engineering design (PLC program & HMI) setting up virtual factory environment to run process plant to adjust customer requirements as mentioned in contract.
Test equipment with product, adjust parameters and make corrections when necessary. Deliver training to operators and follow-up production until complete hand-over. Support customers on issues and document lessons learned for future projects.
Employer requires bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Food Science, or related field and five years of engineering experience including two years of experience as technical leader of project requiring multi-discipline coordination.
Experience with developing of processes and process and instrumentation diagrams.Experience with process installations, system commissioning and plant start-ups.
Experience with reviewing equipment and plant layouts.
Experiences in sanitary process design, focusing on dairy processing.
Experiences in applying regional and state regulations for food safety.
Experience as lead technical engineer on 3 or more high value projects (> 5M USD).
