Boeing Defense, Space and Security (BDS) -Vertical Lift (VL) | PW-Advanced Vertical Lift (PW-AVL) is seeking a SeniorMulti-skilled Project Engineer to join our multi-site team with members in both Mesa, AZ and Ridley Park, PA. The successful candidate will be located in Mesa, AZ, with travel across both locations and to other Boeing sites including St. Louis, MO, Manassas, VA, and primary customer locations including Ft Eustis, VA, Huntsville, AL, Washington, DC, and others.

The PW-Advanced Vertical Lift (PW-AVL) portfolio includes new concepts, technologies, approaches and architectures, for new and existing vertical lift/runway independent air vehicles, systems/subsystems and component including dynamic systems (rotors and drives), structures and landing gear, avionics/mission systems, and vehicle management systems, vertical lift controls and autonomy. AVL identifies, assesses and matures technologies for tactical transition to enduring platforms and strategic development for competitive advantage to capture future franchise programs.

Position Responsibilities:

  • A direct report to the leader of PW-AVL Programs.

  • Provide Engineering leadership to project and/or proposal teams representing multiple skill areas, which may include internal and external resources and customers.

  • Develops statement of work (SOW) to satisfy research and development, ongoing and new business requirements.

  • Works with customers and management to obtain approval.

  • Responds to changes to SOW, assesses the impact and negotiates proposed changes to determine modifications to the deliverables, resources, costs and schedules.

  • Leads project execution to complete the work statement. Identifies performance metrics.

  • Plans, identifies, and coordinates resources required over the life of the project or program.

  • Defines plans for risk mitigation and opportunity.

  • Compares actual results to baseline plan to assess project performance, efficiencies, productivity and lessons learned.

  • Provides technical, business and integration leadership for the development and execution of project or team plans.

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.

This position requires an active U.S. Secret Security Clearance (US Citizenship Required). And ability to obtain a Top-Secret Clearance with access to SAP environments and projects.

Special Program Access or other Government Access Requirements are mandatory for this position.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills & Experience): (see required education and experience for this level below)

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science.

  • 5+ years of experience in Research and Development / Technology development

  • 5+ years of experience with critical business and financial acumen including risk, issue, and opportunity management to drive performance.

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills & Experience):

  • 5+ years of experience on Vertical Lift Systems

  • Experience leading through influence and partnering with cross-functional teams on projects and initiatives.

  • Minimum 5 years of experience acting as a technical interface with suppliers and subsidiaries.

  • Experience in business development, customer engagement, and business capture/proposal development

  • Experience in technology maturation, including risk reduction planning and execution

  • Experience in delivery of products and services to external customers

  • Experience using Program Management Best Practices.

  • Active U.S. Top Secret Security Clearance/SSBI.

Typical Education/Experience:

Level 4

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+4 years' related work experience, Master+7 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

This position offers relocation based on candidate eligibility. Note: Basic relocation will be offered for eligible internal candidates.

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.

Summary pay range for senior level: $114,750 - $155,250
