We are looking for a Senior Project Engineer to add to our Turreted Weapon Systems (TWS) team. Working closely with the TWS Prototype and Production Leadership, the individual will assist in the development of required technical processes for all Turreted Weapon Systems. The Senior Project Engineer will support and provide direct technical input on all existing and future contracts through proposal, design, prototype, and Low rate/Full rate production.

Here's what you'll be working on day to day:

  • Ensure design integrity is acceptable for complete turret builds in preparation for production.

  • Develop changes for manufacturing and upgrading system as required, cost estimation proposal and development. Directly address customer driven requirements.

  • Review and design procedures for all future upgrades as applicable. Identify all required Special Tools and Test Equipment (STTE), material requirements and level of effort for each engineering change.

  • Build relationships with suppliers and internal customers to ensure final product meets system quality standards.

  • Maintain product integrity, and quality in TWS products through collaboration with other Moog resources to resolve production problems, assisting in Material Review Board (MRB) analyses, and assisting in evaluation for possible notice of escape (NOE) to customers.

  • Provide engineering support as required to other Moog departments to maintain and improve product quality, cost avoidance initiatives and on time delivery as required by contract.

  • Maintain a thorough and deep understanding of all designs and applications associated with TWS products.

  • Coaching and training engineering personnel

  • Identify areas for quality improvements in production assembly/test and product design. Initiate these changes and plan for schedule impacts.

  • Electro-mechanical experience with 24VDC military ground mobile systems and subcomponents

  • Create documentation for use by other engineering departments, SCM/procurement, etc. Review and validate contract requirements to meet scope. Support transition between development to full rate production

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, system schematics and other technical documentation to include experience with GD&T (geometric dimensions and tolerances).

  • Manage customer driven changes to system configuration.

Here's what you'll need to bring with:

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering + 9 years relevant technical experience; OR Masters of Science Degree in Engineering + 7 year relevant technical experience; OR Bachelor of Technology Degree in Engineering + 12 year relevant technical experience

  • Demonstrated strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Technical expertise in hydraulic or mechanical actuation products, electronics, and related technologies, both at the top level and subassemblies

  • Strong interpersonal skills for collaboration and coordination with internal and external customers, suppliers, etc., on complex projects and issues.

  • Proven capabilities in areas of Root Cause/Failure Analysis, component repair process improvement and planning,

  • Understanding of manufacturing principles and processes.

  • Ability to access US export-controlled information (ITAR).

  • Ability to obtain a US security clearance

Salary Range:

  • The base pay range for this opportunity is $111,000 - $177,000 per year.
