Collaborate with Project Developers to gain understanding of design intent and customer requirements;
Perform site visits for detailed engineering review of project site, including evaluation of electrical interconnection, civil and site conditions;
Prepare solar PV design layouts in AutoCAD and prepare PVSyst generation models;
Analyze project details such as utility data, facility load profiles, site drawings, and system operating data;
Prepare solar + battery energy storage analyses for peak load shaving, grid benefits and other applications;
Prepare project cost estimating sheets and technical project descriptions;
Work with contractors, structural engineers, and vendors to get the best costs for installing solar PV and battery systems and for purchasing the major system components;
Facilitate engineering input from third party firms and product manufacturers;
Prepare and submit utility interconnection applications;
Assist the Project Development Managers to present Ameresco's proposals to customers, including presentations to City/Town, School District/Higher Education, and commercial customer meetings, as required;
Ensure compliance with company, industry, trade, and jurisdictional safety standards, practices, codes;
Foster effective and positive business relationships with all parties throughout project phases; and,
Perform other duties as required.
BS Engineering plus a minimum of 6 years electrical engineering experience including 2+ years solar PV project engineering experience focusing on site assessment, design and engineering, construction and installation.
Engineering Master's Degree is a plus, but not required.
ADDITIONAL PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Professional Electrical Engineer Registration preferred, but not required.
Proficiency with AutoCAD for designing solar PV panel layouts and one-line electrical wiring diagrams is required.
Working knowledge of PV, Engineering, Construction, Safety, and Industry standards and the National Electrical Code preferred.
Experience with mid-to-large scale ground mount, roof and canopy Solar PV projects is required.
Experience within a utility distributed generation group a plus.
Excellent verbal, written, computer, and technical communication and presentation skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel and Project, and AutoCad.
Familiarity with Solar PV system simulation using PVsyst and other PV software.
Valid Driver's License issued by state of residence and in good standing.
Travel required to project sites in the Central and Northwest regions.
