About the Role:The firm is seeking a Senior Project Architect with extensive experience in all phases of architectural practice, particularly in contract administration. As a key leader, you will oversee complex projects, guide teams, and ensure technical and design excellence. This position is perfect for a seasoned professional with 10+ years of experience, strong BC Building Code knowledge, and at least 5 years of contract administration expertise.
Key Responsibilities:
- Project Leadership: Oversee and manage large-scale projects from design development through construction, ensuring client goals and firm standards are met.
- Contract Administration: Lead all aspects of contract administration, including site reviews, RFIs, change orders, and quality control.
- Team Management: Mentor and guide junior staff, fostering a collaborative and innovative team environment.
- Technical Excellence: Prepare and review detailed construction documents and specifications to ensure constructability and compliance with regulations.
- Client and Stakeholder Coordination: Act as the primary point of contact for clients, consultants, and contractors, ensuring clear communication and successful project outcomes.
- Code Compliance: Apply comprehensive knowledge of BC Building Code, municipal bylaws, and permitting processes to navigate complex regulatory requirements.
- Problem-Solving: Address project challenges proactively, offering strategic solutions that align with timelines and budgets.
What You Bring to the Table:
- A professional degree in Architecture and registration with the AIBC (or eligibility).
- 10+ years of experience in architectural firms, with a robust portfolio of civic, institutional, cultural, multifamily, and mixed-use projects.
- 5+ years of hands-on contract administration experience, with a strong understanding of construction methods and processes.
- Proficiency in Revit is essential; additional skills in AutoCAD, SketchUp, and rendering tools are assets.
- Strong technical knowledge, including construction detailing, building systems, and materials.
- Expertise in BC Building Code, municipal regulations, and permitting processes.
- Exceptional communication and organizational skills, with the ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and manage complex projects.
