THE POSITION: The Senior Program Specialist, PBIS and Behavior, Division of Pupil Services will be providing direct support to school sites within LA County Probation Camps, Juvenile Halls and County Community Schools as a coach for the PBIS and Behavior Support site personnel.

The Senior Program Specialist, Los Angeles County Office of Education (LACOE), shall serve as a resource to professional and technical personnel in general education/special education programs, assess and determine program needs; implement program objectives and conduct in-service training. This position requires specialized subject matter expertise in general/special education and significant, directly related experience. Knowledge of the Individuals with Disabilities Improvement Act (2004) and accompanying regulations is essential.

Under the direction of the Pupil Services Director, the Senior Program Specialist assists in making decisions of considerable consequence, impacting LACOE programs via the gathering and interpretation of data, facts, procedures and policies. The Senior Program Specialist meets regularly with the school site and partner agency behavior support and interventions team and LACOE internal staff to disseminate and coordinate information and procedures regarding appropriate behavior support and interventions for students with LACOE schools. General direction and supervision is provided by the LACOE Pupil Services Coordinator.

Requirements / Qualifications

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION: Experience: Five years of experience as a full time credential school counselor, or similar experience including the operation of electronic records and archival management systems. • Lead or manager experience is desirable. • Two or more years of experience proving behavior support to students in middle and high school • Two or more years providing in class behavior support coaching to teachers and other classroom personnel.

Education: Master's degree in School Counseling with a specialization in School counseling. LICENSE OR CERTIFICATE (All applicants must attach credential with document number to their application.
