The Role

Tesla is looking for a UI Product Owner to own the definition and delivery of outstanding customer facing user interfaces with a strong focus on mobile UIs. Based on overall product delivery plans you own the definition of UI features, work with the design studio on concepts, iterate these concepts with all stake holders, coordinate and execute user tests where applicable, and drive the development, test and release process. We are looking for somebody with a strong design and UI development background; that's hungry to drive the key user interfaces for Tesla's Powerwall and Powerpack customers. The position is part of the Energy Software development team.

Responsibilities

  • Own the UIs from feature concept to customer delight.

  • Define and drive design and implementation of customer user interfaces and dependencies

  • Bridge between Design Studio, Executives, Product Management, Marketing and Software development teams and deliver the most stunning UI possible

  • Champion all UI aspects including application infrastructures, server applications and interfaces, data analytics, performance, delivery

  • Work with and hold all contributors accountable to deliveries and facilitate product delivery

  • Prioritize work tasks along overall product roadmap

  • Ensure design elements are portable between mobile and other user interfaces; delivering a consistent customer experience from purchase to product usage.

  • Review product usability including conducting early user tests

  • Manage releases to operational environment and app market places.

  • Ensure design, usability and quality meet Tesla customers' expectations.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in delivering high quality & style user interfaces

  • Experience in web and mobile application design

  • Experience with App development for common platforms (iOS, Android)

  • Experience with consumer facing user interfaces

  • Experience working in an Agile development environment

  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize and work in an extremely fast-paced, collaborative environment

  • Experience in Java-Script

  • Design Skills:
    Sketch, Photoshop, Illustrator

  • Programming Skills:
    JavaScript, CSS

  • MS/BS degree in CS or MA/BA in graphic design or similar

  • 3+ years of mobile UI experience

Desired

  • UI design experience, portfolio strongly preferred

  • Working understanding energy systems and products

  • User testing experience

Facilitate communication across teams. * Create schedules and track interdependencies to ensure milestones and commitments are met. * Identify key critical path areas in the schedule and monitor resolution and overall project impact. * Grasp complex technical topics and abstract key issues and risks into an actionable form while providing risk tracking, and mitigation in technical environments. * Develop a quality focus in others by establishing clear requirements and measuring key outcomes. Ensure continues improvement of the product development process. * Manage and resolve conflicts with an ability to influence cross-functional teams while managing multiple simultaneous projects with competing priorities. Requirements * 3+ years in software program, project, or product management or a software development role * Excellent written and spoken communication with ability to understand complex problems and summarize in a well-structured, clear, concise way to a wide audience. * Technical knowledge of the software development lifecycle and software management tools e.g. Jira, Confluence. * Ability to coordinate teams to deliver great software systems at scale by synthesizing customer needs, business needs, and engineering culture in order to get the right things done at the right time. * Demonstrated attention to detail with strong record-keeping and organizational skills. * Ability to execute many projects and tasks in parallel. * Ability to make decisions and take action quickly.
