BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • 5+ years of program or project management experience

  • Experience owning program strategy, end to end delivery, and communicating results to senior leadership

  • Experience using data and metrics to determine and drive improvements

  • Bachelor's degree or 6+ years equivalent work experience.

  • 5+ years of regulatory, legal, compliance and/or risk management experience.

  • 2+ years of experience in the transportation industry or working knowledge of DOT Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) regulations.

DESCRIPTION

This role is responsible for vehicle-related DOT compliance initiatives for our last mile carriers. These programs are aimed to improve Vehicle Maintenance FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Act) BASIC (Behavior Analysis and Safety Improvement Category) scores and requires cross-functional partnerships across a bevy of internal and external partners (Transportation Risk & Compliance, LM DOT Programs, AMZL, AMXL, RSR, Regional Fleet Management, DSP Programs, Change Management, Legal, Communications, and 3P vendors). They will lead and execute multiple continuous improvement projects that mitigate fleet compliance risks that deliver on several Director and VP-level goals, across multiple programs in the Global Fleet & Products (GFP) organization.

Key job responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain mechanisms that support Amazon's Last Mile carrier operating authorities.

  • Build relationships with transportation business teams and support cross-functional mechanisms that support timely regulatory filings and reports.

  • Succinctly convey complex problems in easy to digest terms for all stakeholders, using data to support your analysis and conclusions.

  • Deliver strategies to improve our compliance programs that consider and balance stakeholder deliverables and critical path items.

  • Communicate clearly and succinctly (writing and verbal) to a wide variety of audiences and business leadership.

  • Demonstrable excellent communication skills (written and verbal).

A day in the life

  • Apply DOT knowledge to business planning, escalations, external and internal audits and monitoring, risk assessments, roadside inspections, and associated compliance initiatives.

  • Research relevant government legislation, regulations, and guidance (e.g. FMCSA, FAA, etc.) to build subject matter expertise and improve program policies.

  • Support legal, regulatory, and law enforcement inquiries relating to our transportation programs.

  • Develop standard operating procedures to support growth of our compliance program and regulated businesses.

  • Build and maintain program performance and compliance metrics and provide written compliance narratives for compliance and business leaders to support continuous improvement and planning.

  • Scale transportation knowledge, mechanisms, and learning cross-functionally through training and development of new or improved compliance resources.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • PMP

  • Experience with commercial motor vehicle or other federal regulatory and enforcement programs.

  • Proven track record advising on complex regulatory questions and "seeing around corners" to support long-term planning and decision-making.

  • Experience managing multiple, competing priorities simultaneously with a high degree of independence.

  • Prior responsibility for evaluating, launching, or implementing new programs or initiatives.

  • Experience using analysis, reporting, modeling, and forecasting to gather data to support business decision-making and evaluating trade-offs.

  • Advanced degree (e.g. MBA, Juris Doctor (Law)).

  • Project management experience or relevant certification (Project Management Professional (PMP).

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $92,500/year in our lowest geographic market up to $185,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
