If so, then we have the job for you in the Microsoft Commercial Software Engineering (CSE) team. The CSE team codes with customer/partner engineering teams on their hardest challenges to unblock and accelerate progress. In the process, we capture learnings and develop reusable code frameworks, product feedback and guidance to improve the value of our platform.

We are looking for exceptionally skilled Program Manager/Architects (PMAs) to join the CSE Foundations team. Foundations PMAs lead highly leveraged projects that contribute recurring value to our platformi.e., capabilities with relevance that extend beyond a single customer engagement. As a Foundations PMA within one of our three global regionsEMEA, Asia, Americasyou will fulfill the Product Owner role for a small portfolio of such projects with Microsoft engineering teams and customer/partner engineers based in your region and elsewhere. In this capacity, you will identify and 'own' key technology scenarios, orchestrate the engineering approach to address these, and develop the end-to-end user stories with internal and external stakeholders (including your counterparts in the other regions).

  • 6+ years of proven success with Program Managment, Product Development, or Business Management in the technology or engineering industry.

  • Deep understanding of cloud, mobile and other computing technologies, business drivers, and emerging trends across Microsoft and non-Microsoft technologies.

  • Leadership (not necessarily management) especially of geographically dispersed, virtual teams and ability to orchestrate a high-performing team.

  • Ability to build relationships with senior technical and business stakeholders within Microsoft businesses.

  • Strong knowledge of application development practices and a track record of working closely with large development or engineering teams.

  • Strong verbal and written communication ability including fluency in English.

  • Be prepared to spend 25% of your time travelling within your global region (EMEA, Asia, Americas) with occasional travel worldwide.

In this role, you will be responsible for:

  • Identifying technical industry use cases and patterns (Foundation Scenarios) that have potential for CSE to impact industry adoption by producing reusable software assets.

  • Driving the selection and prioritization of Foundation Scenarios for CSE development team engagement, based on evaluation of criteria like customer relevance, reusability, leverage, strategic impact, and complementarity with existing platform technologies.

  • Clearly identifying the technical blockers to adoption for Foundation Scenarios and needed enhancementse.g., platform features, developer tooling, third-party/OSS integrationsrequired to address them.

  • Identifying and connecting with experts, and investigating "prior art", both internally and externally, to capture and apply earlier lessons learned.

  • Coordinating across teams to establish/maintain the right engineering partnerships internally and externally to deliver on Foundation Scenario artifacts in a way that optimizes across leverage and sustainability.

  • Working with CSE engineering managers to identify, onboard and make efficient use of developer expertise in Foundation project teams as needs evolve over the project lifecycle.

  • Developing best practices in open source software/product development to ensure that project teams are able to make consistently high-quality, sustainable open source contributions.

  • Participating in hands-on coding engagements, e.g., by performing the detailed technical investigation needed to understand issues, usability factors and competitive/alternative approaches relevant to a given Foundation Scenario.

  • Fulfill the Product Owner (PO) function on prioritized Foundation projects, owning epics/stories, driving backlog prioritization, etc.

The Senior Program Manager of Retail Systems will collaborate with key business partners, IT teams and vendors to create a vision and strategy for developing, deploying and supporting retail solutions which are scalable, operational and maintainable. We are looking for a leader with strong drive for results, critical thinking capabilities, ability to work across teams and someone who has a passion for delivering value to our stores, cashiers and customers, while aligning with Whole Foods Market's strategic objectives. Responsibilities: * Understand program stakeholder goals and expectations to assess impact on the overall business objectives. * Establish and manage the program's delivery governance structure and processes. * Plan the overall the program delivery phases based on business and technical objectives. * Integrate all project work plans and clearly capture key milestones and dependencies. * Develop and/or review estimates and estimating assumptions for each of the teams' schedule, effort, and cost using best practices, and past experience. * Measure and monitor progress at clearly defined points in the process to ensure the project is delivered on time, within budget, and meets or exceeds expectations. * Balance scope, schedule, budget, quality, and risks. Make adjustments as needed. * Maintain consistency between the baseline scope and estimate by following an agreed and documented change control process. This includes adherence to SLDC deliverables and change management. * Demonstrated strength to build and maintain strong business and IT relationships across teams. This includes ability to hold teams accountable and influence critical business outcomes across a complex organization. * Experience managing partnerships with vendors and leverage appropriate software delivery lifecycle models for work efforts.
