General Notes

Position is full-time, grant-funded, and contingent on continued receipt of funding. Position is funded through August 31, 2025.

Purpose

Provide day-to-day project coordinator on Center for Health Communication (CHC) grant-funded programs related to cancer screening, prenatal health, and public health disease monitoring.

Responsibilities

  • With minimal supervisory oversight, provide day-to-day leadership, management, and implementation for three grant-funded, TX-based projects, including Father's Playbook (an app to promote men's involvement in prenatal health), Project CONNECT (an initiative to promote colorectal cancer screening), and a wastewater monitoring project to aid in disease tracking.

  • Serve as lead content creator for Father's Playbook, including for social media and app content. Create and manage paid search and digital marketing campaigns. Routine tracking and reporting of advertising and app metrics.

  • Collaborate with researchers to apply research findings to real-world health communication strategies and tactics. Collaborate with graphic designers to create a wide range of creative materials that help meet contract requirements and broader public health goals.

  • Apply public health program planning principles to plan, implement, and evaluate major health communication initiatives; steward evidence-based health communication principles.

  • Support CHC's mission to lead the creation of evidence-based health communication research education, and practice. Related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in public health, communication, advertising, or related field

  • 5 or more years' experience with project management

  • Prior experience managing complex timelines with multistage tasks and multiple stakeholders

  • Demonstrated success at coordinating teams toward a common goal

  • Previous experience with leading meetings, tracking project progress, and routine monitoring and reporting

  • Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervisory oversight

  • Demonstrated ability to get up to speed on a project quickly

  • Excellent communication skills with internal team as well as external stakeholders

  • Interest in health communication, public health, and the mission of the Center for Health Communication

Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced degree in public health, communication, advertising, or related field

  • 5 or more years' experience with project management and leadership

  • Prior experience managing complex timelines and budgets for large projects

  • Previous experience creating / writing content for a public health initiative

  • Previous experience managing a digital marketing initiative, such as buying ads on Facebook/Meta or paid Google search ads; utilizing advertising metrics to make data-based decisions

  • 1 or more years supervisory experience

Salary Range

$52,500 + depending on qualifications

Employment Eligibility:

Retirement Plan Eligibility:
