Abbott Molecular is currently seeking an experienced design quality assurance professional to support research and development teams on innovative assay development products. The successful candidate will utilize personal credibility on development projects to influence and guide teams through the design and development process, including QA support for all design control activities.

General: The candidate must be able to provide solutions to a wide range of difficult problems, while ensuring that those solutions are compliant, innovative, thorough, practical and consistent with organizational objectives.

They may lead projects with cross-functional or broader scope, or may represent the team on cross-functional project teams; must be able to interact effectively with employees, manager, and cross-functional peers. They must be able to communicate confidently and effectively with management, peers, and key stakeholders. They must be able to apply personal technical skills to project work and use expertise to guide development teams in development.

Design Control: The candidate will guide and influence new product development teams through design, validation, and regulatory compliance and assure robust product vs. customer requirements.

They should be able to formulate appropriate reasons and justifications for changes, including assessment of crucial parameters and other affected systems/products. They should possess a thorough understanding of the design control lifecycle, including design inputs, verification, validation, and commercialization.

Documentation & Change Control: The candidate will be able to assess the impact of changes on field performance, customer expectations, safety, and efficacy of a product. They will be able to formulate thorough reasons and justifications for changes, including assessment of critical parameters and other affected systems/products.

Quality System: The candidate will demonstrate ability to maintain and ensure compliance to the quality system and to site level policies and procedures.

Education: Bachelor's degree in Life Science, Engineering, or closely related discipline.

At least 7 years work experience in Quality, Development or other related discipline (diagnostic quality, technical area, etc); Less experience may be appropriate with advanced degree. Preferred experience in the Healthcare industry; preferred experience with assay development or assay support.

We have an immediate need for a Design Engineering Manager in Chicago, IL. Job Duties: The Design Group presently consists of fifteen professionals in multiple locations. Most of their work is design development and pricing support leading to acceptance by the customer of fixed price design/build proposals. Detail design requirements vary by customer, technology and subcontractors, but are usually not executed internally. NORESCO is looking for a working manager for part of this Group. The manager of design engineering is responsible for managing internal design staff (4-5 personnel) as well as managing his/her own development projects. Day–to-day managerial responsibilities for the manager of design include the following: * Provide engineering Quality Control on all projects his/her direct reports are assigned to. * Prepare development and implementation budgets for external and internal engineering resources. * Prepare consultant agreements and manage those resources for external engineering requirements. * Conduct annual and interim performance evaluations for all assigned staff. * Mentor staff and help expand the design engineering department's technical expertise, through training. The manager of design engineering will also be responsible for managing his/her own development projects. Development projects responsibilities shall include the setting of scopes of work and overseeing all design functions on the assigned project. Most of their work is site investigation, preparation of site-specific design documents, supervision of specialty consultants and pricing support leading to acceptance by the government/customer of fixed price design/build proposals. Detail design requirements vary by customer, technology and subcontractors, but at a minimum the candidate will be responsible for the following: * Work closely with the development team to write detailed scopes of work and design drawings to insure each project can be priced by a turn-key design/build subcontractor and minimize the potential for change-orders during the implementation phase. * Coordinate with all internal departments to insure requirements from M&V, O&M, Commissioning and analysis have been incorporated into the design packages. * The candidate will be expected to be capable of effective time management and proper resource allocation on the projects assigned to him/her. * Managing design consultants during the implementation phase, insuring the final design can achieve savings guarantees and system performance. * The manager of design will be expected to be NORESCO's technical interface with the customer during the implementation phase.
