Position Summary

The Senior Product Training Instructor anticipates, develops and delivers training solutions to support competency development for technical personnel within dealerships, application builders, major operators and internal Volvo Penta personnel, this includes includes Marine and Industrial products.

Core Responsibilities

  • Train dealers and trainers on products and services related to diesel and automotive engines, both variable speed and gen-set offering within the industrial and construction segments

  • Coordinate with management to ascertain needs and focus for development of curriculum and delivery of instructor led training for internal and external audiences

  • Provide leadership, direction and support for interim or contract instructors

  • Develop and maintain a high level of technical proficiency with our products

  • Design, develop and implement lesson plans and curriculum, which works in conjunction with e-learning materials to enhance the knowledge and competency of service personnel in the industry

  • Schedule, post and follow up instructor led classes within the Learning Management System (LMS) for your area of responsibility

  • Ensure that updated product information, proper repair procedures, parts information, etc. is incorporated in all course(s) curriculum

  • Provide information to assist Publications personnel in development of new technical manuals and instruction when appropriate

  • Prepare remote Volvo Penta schools and contracted locations for training courses. Ensure proper inventory of training engines, handouts, equipment and tools. Assist contract or interim training personnel in developing a positive and rewarding training experience at all locations

  • Visit OEM and dealer locations on request to support dealer development, assist in analyzing product performance issues, warranty, sales, parts or procedures

Skills and Knowledge Required

  • Strong skills in training administration, needs assessment, training processes

  • Strong knowledge regarding automotive, industrial, and/or marine engine systemsboth gas and dieselrequired

  • Working knowledge with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, and Power Point)

  • Strong written, oral, and interpersonal skills required

Education and Experience

  • Undergraduate degree in engineering or related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Previous technical instructor experience required to include instructional design or curriculum design experience

  • Expertise in the troubleshooting, repair and installation of Volvo Penta products

  • Must have 5 years of experience working with automotive, industrial, and/or marine engine systemsgas and diesel

  • Bilingual (Spanish) a plus

Essential Functions: * Deliver the Ultimate Fitness Experience to every member, every time * Create a positive class atmosphere and motivate members to reach their goals through group fitness * Teach safe and effective classes in accordance with industry standards * Promote club activities and programs to class attendees Job Responsibilities: * Be available to members before and after class * Represent the club, staff, and company in a positive manner at all times * Maintain class statistics and records as directed * Track time and follow payroll procedures * Follow substitution policies and minimize use of subs * Attend all mandatory department and club meetings and trainings * Maintain required certifications and complete continuing education to remain current with industry standards * Replace equipment and organize studio after class to prepare for upcoming classes and maintain club cleanliness according to company standards * Report safety issues or injuries to Group Fitness Director or General Manager * Report any equipment or studio issues to Group Fitness Director or General Manager * Attend peer instructor classes at least twice monthly * Assume other duties as assigned * Work early mornings, late nights, and weekends as necessary Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: * Excellent verbal and nonverbal communication skills * Excellent listening skills * Ability to motivate and nurture others * Strong work ethic that includes punctuality, organization, and attention to detail * Ability to maintain a friendly, enthusiastic, and positive attitude * Outwardly facing professional appearance * Confidence and desire to create new relationships quickly * Ability to quickly acquire and apply new knowledge and skills * Willingness to work flexible hours * Ability to speak clearly and effectively before large groups when teaching and demonstrating techniques * Ability to use a microphone and sound system Required Experience, Education & Certifications: * Nationally recognized group fitness certification from a US Fitness accepted provider or equivalent degree in a related field required * Specialty certification required (if class requires secondary certification) * Current CPR/AED and First Aid certifications required * Experience teaching group fitness classes preferred Physical Activities Required: Physical demands listed here are representative of those that must be met to successfully perform essential job functions.
