This role is actively identifying and productizing new innovations into our Mercedes-Benz car portfolio by partnering with early stage companies on joint product developments. You will join a vibrant environment at the heart of automotive innovation. As a partner to R&D engineering teams, the role will focus on product management tasks and strategy for a variety of topic areas. Those include new digital business models, connected car solutions, autonomous drive innovations and more. In each field the role will gather a quick understanding of the market, connect with the VC eco-system and others to confirm the best partners and drive the partnership negotiations as well as the roadmaps for implementation.
This role is continuously at the forefront of innovation as a connector between innovative companies, the VC eco-system, incubators in the Seattle / Silicon Valley area and our R&D units and digital hubs worldwide.
Key Tasks & Responsibilities:
Active support in negotiations of innovation and cooperation projects as well as execution and evaluation of strategic, commercial and technical tasks therein.
Formation and advancement of resulting cooperation and/or participation structures as well as their integration in / interaction with Daimler.
Define and drive strategic roadmaps for cooperation's
Develop viable and scalable business models with the cooperation partner
Establish and nurture relationships to Universities, Start-ups, Accelerators and other aggregation partners in Silicon Valley and Seattle
Establish frequent communication and information exchange to leading organizations in order to identify leading innovations and/ or talent opportunities for Daimler.
Establish a strong communication for collaboration and knowledge transfer between MBRDNA and Daimler R&D centers in Germany and globally.
Establish own methods and evaluation criteria to assess and monitor cooperation and / or participations in companies.
Support on cooperation cross-functional tasks:
Development and establishment of cooperation / portfolio and tracking tools for RD/IM as well as template for cooperation in R&D in general;
Continuous documentation along Innovation Management Cycle in internal Tool
Minimum Skills Required:
Bachelor's degree in business administration with 5 years of experience working in corporate venture or partnerships/co-operations team. (Bachelors 5 yrs / Masters 3 yrs / PhD)
Experience delivering products to market and demonstrated ability to drive product planning, development and launch
Excellent command of English and German language skills preferred
Certification of participation in qualifications relevant to this position
Completed master degree in business administration, engineering, economics or comparable qualification with track record in technology companies
Willingness to travel
Strategic and entrepreneurial thinking and acting as well as customer orientation
Understanding of the most recent trends in the mobility sector including experience with digital consumer experiences
Knowledge of the emerging technologies like augmented reality, computer vision, autonomous driving, mobile technologies
Excellent communication skills with the ability to interact with and understand technical subjects and emerging technologies and their relevance to the marketplace
Ability to lead across highly cross-functional teams
Ability to communicate findings clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences
