Mimecast is currently seeking a Senior Product Marketing Manager to join the fastpaced Market Strategy and Product Marketing team. The team is responsible for product marketing, competitive intelligence, sales facilitation, and pricing and packaging, which all support the go-to-market motion.

The Product Marketing Director will own all global product marketing activities for Mimecast's email security portfolio. You will work collaboratively with the product management, sales, and marketing teams to build and drive the go-to-market strategy for this product portfolio in support of Mimecast's business goals.


First and foremost, you are a subject matter expert on the email security market and its buyers and someone who can serve as a strategic advisor to your stakeholders and the business at large. You will have the depth of technical understanding necessary to map technologies and product functionality to your buyers' needs and create compelling value propositions that drive positioning and messaging. You must also be able to lead a team of product marketers, set clear goals, manage a variety of projects in a fast-paced environment, and drive consistent, high-quality execution.

Strong writing and presentation skills are a must, as is the ability to facilitate collaboration across a variety of teams. Your messaging will flow through all market-facing and sales enablement content assets that you and your team produce yourselves and in collaboration with internal and external writers and agencies. Knowledge of marketing content/demand generation strategy is strongly preferred.


  • Be Mimecast's SME on the email security market and its buyers
  • Use this knowledge to drive all other activities.
  • Lead a team of product marketers and drive consistent, high-quality execution of deliverables

  • Drive the GTM strategy

  • Maintain an ongoing understanding of the performance of Mimecast's email security product set and create a quarterly plan of recommendations for the business to ensure continued success.
  • Product messaging
  • Develop product positioning and messaging for each buyer and segment that differentiates Mimecast in the market. Own the messaging guide for your defined product set.
  • Content creation
  • Produce and support the creation of externally facing, persona-based marketing collateral designed to accelerate the sales cycle.
  • Product launch
  • Own all product marketing aspects of product launches and releases.
  • AR - Work with the analyst community to ensure your assigned product set gains positive mindshare.

  • Evangelism

  • Be the voice of your assigned products and the market needs they address at events, webcasts, customer, and partner meetings.
  • Thought leadership - collaborate with the wider marketing team to support thought leadership programs and content.

  • Demand gen

  • Be the voice of your assigned product set for the marketing campaigns and field marketing teams. Help build innovative marketing campaigns and programmes that will drive demand for the assigned product set. Support global and local field marketing events.
  • Sales enablement
  • Develop an understanding of the needs of the Mimecast and partner sales teams. Produce enablement tools and content that clearly communicate the value proposition of the assigned products for each buyer and segment. Support sales teams in prospect/customer meetings.
  • Customer references
  • Collaborate with sales and the customer reference teams to recognize opportunities for customer refences and drive the appropriate message through all reference content.


  • 10+ years of technology product marketing experience

  • Experience leading product marketing teams in a fast-paced environment

  • A data driven marketer with a creative mindset

  • Solid cyber security industry knowledge

  • A balance of technical and commercial knowledge to translate complex technologies into market facing value propositions

  • Accomplished storyteller and public speaker

  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills

  • Experience of security product buying centers across SMB, mid-market, and enterprise organisations

  • Experience working across different international markets

  • Experience of channel partner routes to market strategies

  • Experience building sales content and tools to drive competitive wins

  • Experience of working with marketing campaigns teams

  • AR/PR experience

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment

  • Comfortable interfacing at all levels and maintaining strong working relationships across cross-functional teams

Responsibilities * Work with diverse multi-skilled teams to deliver high quality projects on time. * Collaborate across Product, Engineering, Customer Service, Product Marketing, Business Systems, and Sales to gather requirements and build a better understanding of how we drive our products forward. * Establish strong relationships across the business built on trust, clear understanding and reliable delivery. * Distil customer challenges into clear, concise user stories and requirements which articulate the desires and priorities of our customers and users. * Ensure that key performance indicators are defined and measured for new features. * Identify risks associated with product completion and delivery and outline mitigation/communication plans. * Lead customer early access/beta programmes for early release of features. * Plan and execute large-scale platform migration projects with appropriate risk management. * Process and prioritise new product requests and ideas from across the business. * Contribute to the Platform/Mime|OS roadmap and the associated development backlog. * Assist with customer research and feedback collection. * Perform competitive analysis on market and adjacent markets in the context of the assigned product set. * Write internal and public facing technical documentation. * Represent Mimecast professionally, e.g. with customers, prospects and our online community. Qualifications Relevant Experience * Ideally, at least three years prior proven experience and subject matter expertise within a product management role. * A broad technical pedigree acquired through study and career progression, preferably backed up with a strong STEM degree. * Professional experience in one or more of the following areas: analytics/cloud services such as AWS/reporting/big data/machine learning/mail or web security. * Demonstrable understanding of cloud platform concepts and technologies and the associated challenges and trade-offs which necessarily accompany growth. * Direct experience of building, maintaining and extending large complex platforms. * Strong analytical background and a track record of using data to support business decision making. * Evidence of being able to focus on detailed tasks for extended periods without losing track of the bigger picture. * Expertise researching, defining and documenting complex business processes and requirements. * Launch experience, including documentation and smooth handover to support teams plus post-launch leadership. * A consummate team player. * An enthusiastic, high energy individual. * High integrity: does what is right for the customer and also for co-workers. * Adept at explaining challenging technical concepts to individuals and groups. * Exceptional analytical skills. * Proactive self-starter with a strong work ethic. * Excellent verbal and written communication skills and a talent for concise executive summary. * Empathic: able to build rapport with customers and internal stakeholders. * A clear understanding of how the role affects customers and the overall company. * Extensive customer-facing experience.
