The Product Manager role for the Legal Markets group (within Legal and Regulatory U.S.) is responsible for helping the business assess the viability of new product concepts and moving those concepts through the Innovation pipeline. Serve as the responsible party for identifying hypotheses and then developing and executing market tests to validate/invalidate those hypotheses. You will assemble cross functional/matrixed teams for each innovation concept under the guidance of the Product Director -- Innovation.
Develop and maintain an understanding of the competitive environment in the legal markets and in adjacent markets through ongoing research of competitors, frequent customer visits, attendance at industry events, and networking with internal / external stakeholders
Serve as an internal expert in the application of Lean Product and Pragmatic Marketing methodology to support new investments; work with Legal Markets Group and other groups with Legal and Regulatory US
Research new business opportunities; develop and present business cases and financial models for new product offerings
Under direction from the Product Director -- Innovation, work with a business sponsor to identify the hypotheses associated with a product concept and to also develop and execute a series of experiments (tests) to validate / invalidate those hypotheses.
Work with relevant business stakeholders (VP Legal Markets, Portfolio Directors/Managers, Director of Product Management -- Platforms, and other internal/external stakeholders to identify to identify both new product opportunities and potential enhancements to existing products and platforms. Maintain a backlog of opportunities
Using standards developed by the business, document, track and report on new product opportunities and communicate product concepts and progress on same to business stakeholders
Work with the Product Director -- Innovation to prioritize the opportunity backlog; for each opportunity prioritized, manage lean projects to assess problem/solution fit and product/market fit with the goal of completing each within 30 and 90 days
Work with the Product Director -- Innovation to manage the overall budget and corresponding allocation of budget to innovation projects
Evaluate the feasibility of third-party applications in product offerings; identify third-party providers and applications; coordinate third-party product development with internal product delivery
A minimum of five years of relevant experience with B2B product development within a software (SaaS) company (preferably legal and/or financial software)
Experience in the application of Lean product or Pragmatic Marketing methodologies as well as Agile software development; proven track record delivering value through product development in a B2B environment
Experience managing product backlog
Minimum of a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university OR equivalent work experience
Experience working within a multi-division organization with various sales channels
Significant customer facing experience in support of product sales (preferably within a law firm; corporate counsel markets). Understanding on Contextual Inquiry and/or Design
