As the Senior Product Manager, you will be directly responsible for driving innovation within Datto's flagship Unified Continuity line of business. Your subject matter and MSP industry experience will help us tackle strategic market questions and help accelerate our growth protection on premises server infrastructure (Windows, Linux) but also infrastructure in Public and Private clouds.

In addition to conceptualising and driving key roadmap items, you will take a special role on the product team to connect our product strategy with local market dynamics in EMEA. You will get the opportunity to extend beyond product management into some pricing and product marketing initiatives.

You will also help us drive more accountability for the 'roadmap intake' process by standardising our participation in customer advisory boards and enabling the team to address customer feedback from online forums in a scalable manner.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Own product through entire product life cycle, from initial proposal, requirements definition, launch, and retirement

  • Using product research input, create detailed business and technical requirements, working alongside engineering to design, develop, and bring concepts to market

  • Contribute to the strategic planning process and ensure continuing alignment of the product strategy with the overall company strategy

  • Collaborate with product marketing and sales on go-to-market strategy and execution. Keep stakeholders involved and informed throughout the planning, development, testing, and deployment lifecycle.

  • Manage stakeholder and customer escalations when needed.

  • Establish success criteria for product usage and perform ongoing measurement and monitoring, using input to inform roadmap and designs.


  • 10 years of product management experience

  • A consistent track record leading all aspects of a product throughout its lifecycle

  • A solid Agile Product Owner background, with a demonstrated experience working with a team of technical experts in an agile environment

  • Demonstrated skills communicating with peers, managers, and senior leadership

  • Excellent analytical, collaboration, presentation and written skills

  • Extensive experience with enterprise software very helpful

  • Solid technical understanding of common IT infrastructures

Preferred qualifications

  • A technical background with an understanding and/or hands-on experience in Windows Server, Public Clouds (Azure or AWS)

  • BA/BS in Computer Science or related technical field or equivalent practical experience.

  • CSPO or A-CSPO Certification

  • Customer references - line of business or IT leaders who can recommend your work from previous experience as your customer.

General Summary Assist the Senior Product Category Leader or Product Category Leader with the maintenance and ongoing development of a specific product category assortment, including operational support to meet strategic sales, margin dollar, inventory, availability, quality and compliance goals. Ensure pre-article set up compliance requirements are completed to enable procurement of products with the highest possible quality at the best possible cost, including single purchase buys to supplement the ongoing permanent assortment. Partner with internal functions, including but not limited to Global Sourcing, Marketing, Supply Chain, Finance, Store Operations, Compliance & Quality and/or other functions as needed, to execute the business plan for the product category assortment across all channels of distribution; company owned retail stores, member co-operatives and the branded/non-branded dealer network. Essential Job Functions * Ensure vendor/product onboarding compliance requirements including but not limited to collection, analysis, and interpretation of a pre-sku financial risk assessment, are completed and approved in accordance with the Southern States product lifecycle SOP. * Ensure vendors are properly assigned and utilizing all aspects of the Southern States Vendor Portal, including EDI billing and invoicing, avoiding the use of pre-pay product terms or pre-pay and add transportation terms, where possible. * Update mix/margin pro-forma vendor pool data; including current costs from potential as well as in-program vendors. * Compile, organize and maintain photos, information, and action items for future POGs beginning w/ assortment strategy concept through availability for sale. * Support inventory management, global sourcing and supply chain teams to secure uninterrupted inventory supply of purchased items for the purpose of maintaining adequate stock levels to support customer demand for the assigned product category. * Assist in building a step-up selling structure featuring an opp/good/better/best format with coordinated add-on accessory selling options to include go to market promotional events and a planned end-of-life extinction process with the goal of driving increased average transactions. * Participate in the review and adjustment of assortment plans as needed to achieve sales and margin plans and to maintain competitive presence in the marketplace. * Provide information to facilitate cost negotiation, forecasting, payment terms, product specifications and delivery schedules. * Explore new products to innovate and refresh product offerings by securing and evaluating feedback from stores, competitor assortments, and research of market trends/consumer demands. * Facilitate timely communication with internal and external customers to ensure pertinent category information is provided to all applicable departments/clients for the assigned category. * With guidance from the Category Leader, create and/or review all product information for internal and external communications, including catalogs, brochures, web presentation, warranties, installation instructions, etc. * With guidance from the Category Leader, develop product knowledge and product category training for store and internal sales associates. * Demonstrate continuous effort to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, streamline processes and work cooperatively with other teams. * Participate in trade shows where applicable. * Maintain sales to space ratios, responding to changing sales and market trends to ensure that planned sales, margin dollar, inventory and available weeks of supply are achieved by each product category assortment, across all channels of distribution; company owned retail stores, member co-operatives and the branded/non-branded dealer network. * Assist in managing the product life cycle that begins with planned product introductions into the category and ends with product end of life process. Populate the opp/good/better/best assortment matrix and mix/margin pro-forma tools to support the product life cycle process.
