The Opportunity: Senior Product Manager

The Senior Product Manager (PM) is responsible for the overall success of a product/product portfolio with the ultimate measure its return on investment with supporting success metrics that include, but are not limited to design wins, bookings and revenue generation results that align with forecasts. The PM is responsible for the commercial success of a product, overseeing it from inception, through design, build, launch, growth, enhancement and eventual sunset. By intimately understanding the target market needs, pain and requirements, they deliver market, customer and technical specifications to engineering/product development teams so they can execute on a product engineering design effort. The PM also ensures that the final product provides differentiation to increase the probability of win. The PM is the overall technical and product subject matter expert in support of Marketing and Sales and is responsible for defining and maintaining the Product Roadmaps for the portfolio.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop and implement strategies for existing and new products and prepare business cases that include return on investment, pricing, profit margins, forecasts for bookings, revenue, and design wins, while ensuring a good competitive and differentiated value proposition is being offered through competitive, market and industry research.

  • Give direction in kicking off and managing Engineering on product development requirements, drive adherence to product specifications and product/project development milestones/Time to Market (TTM), along with cost targets based on insights from interactions and research from the target market.

  • Manage the ongoing health of the product line through regular sales forecasts and design win estimates

  • Provide prospects and customers product line subject matter expertise via Sales

  • Support Marketing content creation and product line positioning

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work closely with Marketing's efforts to develop positioning, value propositions and competitive research that will address target market needs, pain and challenges

  • Maintain and communicate regular product line bulletins and schedules to customers, prospects and sales

  • Maintain a strong working knowledge of the current and future technology trends and needs of the product portfolio by working closely with the relevant CTOs and gaining their insights

  • Work with Lifecycle Services team to manage the availability of the products through its product life

  • Work with Manufacturing, Engineering Services, Quality and other Operations groups to ensure the product performs and operates as per the specification and customer expectations

  • Work closely with the CTOs and PLMs from other business units to ensure that product roadmaps align with the overall company strategy and industry technology direction.

  • Support Sales with online, web and onsite product line training

  • Drive third-party collaborative product development, and support cooperative marketing/sales (via Strategic Alliances Manager) and business capture activities

SKILLS REQUIRED

  • Detailed knowledge of High Performance Embedded Computing technologies including general purpose processors, FPGA's, GPGPU's, high speed data acquisition, networking and Position, Navigation and Timing (PNT) in the military/aerospace industry

  • Insights into relevant industry standards including VME/VPX/PMC/XMC form factors and standards, etc.

  • Insights into relevant software including Real-time operating systems, signal processor libraries, and multi-processor middleware.

  • Entrepreneurial and innovative spirit and sense of urgency, and a highly motivated self-starter

  • Excellent written and oral communication, presentation and interpersonal skills

  • A good understanding of product, market & marketing strategy development

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

  • Relevant hardware/software Engineering Degree, or equivalent experience

  • Relevant business degree, or equivalent experience

  • Minimum 5 years relevant experience in Product, Program and/or Engineering Management, or Product Marketing

  • Must be able to obtain a US Security Clearance

Verizon is in search of a Senior Product Manager in the SDN product area with a special focus on enabling SDN and WiFi portfolio (physical and virtual network functions) for large and mid-tier enterprises. Yourfocus will be on Verizon's strategic products with emphasis on SD-LAN, SD-WLAN (Managed WIFI), SD-WAN and other Virtual Network Services enabling Managed Network Services with wireline (MPLS, Internet) and wireless (LTE, 5G) networks on Universal CPE white box, private and public clouds (AWS, Azure, GCP). Key responsibilities would include: * Working with large Enterprises and pre-sales teams to identify use cases and develop managed services products for network and digital transformation focused on enabling SDN and WLAN combined with current and next gen networks (MPLS, Broadband, LTE & 5G). * Leading market research, identifyingnext gen use cases, writing business case and requirements around SDN, NFV, Wi-Fi and/or IoT solutions for Enterprise and public sector. * Working in an agile environmentacross stakeholder organizations (including Product Management, Operations, Order Management, Billing, etc.). * Handling cross-functional communication and decision making in order to drive Managed Services objectives. * Enabling product launches (idea to GA) in a fast paced, results oriented and innovative work culture (startup environment). * Analyzing business results using key financial metrics including volumes, costs, and profitability to ensure offers supports customer needs while also achieving business case targets such as revenue and margin * Representing Verizon at industry conferences, tradeshows and other partner events. * Leading and serving as a change agent in the managed services space using SDN/NFV to create/enable solutions for various channels such as large enterprise, indirect, federal/government and small/medium business markets. What we're looking for... You'll need to have: * Bachelor's degree or four or more years of work experience. * Six or more years of relevant work experience. Even better if you have: * A degree. * Strong product development background with key focus on Enterprise use cases around network services (WLAN, WAN, 4G & 5G). * Experience in product management, marketing and/or pre-sales roles with a direct contribution to revenue growth (preferably in an "as a service" model using public or private cloud infrastructure – Amazon AWS, Microsoft Azure or Google Cloud Platform). * Market research, business case creation, product sales enablement, pricing and marketing experience. * Strong technical background to provide systems perspective and expertise for LAN, Wi-Fi, IoT products, services and E2E managed network solutions. * Deep understanding and industry expertise to provide systems perspective and expertise for existing networks (MPLS, broadband, 4G LTE) and exposure to future network trend (5G, IoT ecosystem etc.) and vendor ecosystem. * Excellent communication skills to lead discussions with pre-sales community customers to identify new market opportunities and use cases. * Experience in agile IT development processesand collaboration tools (e.g. JIRA, Confluence, Jive etc.) as well as vendor management. * Five or more years of managed services leadership and SDN/NFV experience, preferably a blend of wireless/wireline technologies in applications, virtualization, security, and network. * Expertise in crafting impactful messaging to executive internal/external audiences using PowerPoint/Word and meaningful/concise communication to peer groups via e-mail. * Technical knowledge of the network (MPLS, internet, wireless) and cloud platforms (OpenStack). * Experience developing virtualized application integration frameworks both in the cloud and in x86 based hardware. * Experience in ideation or development of cutting edge applications like Mobile Edge Computing, Blockchain etc. When you join Verizon...
