Responsibilities:

  • Manages and strengthens the segment product portfolio (introduction/integration/deletion), considering global segment strategy and market trends

  • Ensures that the product ranges are relevant for the customer needs and product information is maintained and up to date

  • Drives distinctiveness for AkzoNobel products versus competitors in the minds of our customers ensuring this by matching the customer needs better than competitors

  • Creates relevant value propositions for customer segments in accordance with the segment plans

  • Actively manages products as a portfolio according to Integrated Business Planning guidelines (such as new product introduction, product obsolescence, rationalization, etc.)

  • Proactively identifies and acts on opportunities for (global) technology/range harmonization

  • Identifies new product customer needs through direct Voice of Customer interactions and Sales team feedback and creates specification for new products in liaison with R&D

  • Coordinates new product development business case creation in coordination with Sales and R&D

  • Acts as Project Manager for new product development projects, using the stage gate process

  • Ensures effective planning, communication and progress of new product development and launches

  • Participates in Integrated Business Planning process to inform progress on key projects

  • Assures the timely launch of new products into the market and follows approval processes

  • Adheres to established brand strategies to ensure optimal product positioning and value creation

  • Maintains and manages the specified product ranges by customer to ensure compliance to specification set by each manufacturer or market

  • In collaboration with BU Marketing and Pricing Excellence team, runs cost to serve analysis to develop deeper understanding about the customers and related profitability

  • Creates convincing sales arguments for products including competitive comparisons

  • Ensures that relevant product information is provided to the sales team and maintained up to date

  • Works with the Regional Portfolio Coordinator to optimize the product range such as product introduction, product maintenance and improvement, market scope extension, repositioning, value engineering and rationalization

  • Provide meaningful product portfolio briefings on regional level or input for briefings on global level for the Communication Department and technical training development team

  • Coordinates and supports roll-out on market level with the relevant stakeholders (incl. pricing)

  • Provides input for tradeshows / events as required

  • Manage Regional Supply Issues Relabelling, inventory monitoring, stock outs, etc.

  • Monitoring of Regional product complaints in the region activation of product recall notifications to the market

  • Provides ideas for product positioning to broader product management community

  • Benchmarking of competitors portfolio offerings compared to AkzoNobel portfolio

  • Contributes to the creation of best practices in product management through the organization

  • Participate in new literature and collateral development with communications manager

  • Close dialogue with sales team to maintain feedback about product performance and market needs

  • Regular reviews with regional lab teams to manage regional technical activity with respect to Stage-Gate and LWR's

  • Be familiar with all applicable corporate and site policies/procedures with regard to personal conduct, HSE standards and always in compliance with all applicable regulations

  • Provides product branding / naming guidance in coordination with BU segment manager Provides pricing and warranty guidelines for product families.

  • University degree in in Marketing, Business Administration, Economics, Chemistry or other related field

  • 5 years working experience in commercial environment

  • Ideally experience in more than 1 area of marketing and/or sales, ideally experienced in product/project management

  • Demonstrates strong performance orientation

  • Global experience strongly preferred but not required

  • Showcase organizational acumen

  • Solid interpersonal and influencing ability

  • Stakeholder management

Key Responsibilities: Provide Commercial Coatings marketing department support to facilitate achievement of strategic, growth, profitability goals and objectives. * SKU/Brand Management – 25% Manage brands/SKUs to ensure and optimal product and ancillaries inventories compared to demand, and profitability of the product lines. Price increase implementation as dictated by market/business conditions. Manage Aquacron, TrueFinish shared products/liaison, Powder, Pretreatments and other brands/products assigned. * Segment Research, Analysis/Opportunity Assessment, Sales Force Training – 25% Provide information to the Commercial Coatings Marketing organization on market segments using webinars and other regular communication methods regarding, trends, strategy, recent wins, competitive intelligence (SWOT), traditional and new channels, trade associations and industry influencers; Utilize technical and analytical skills to perform market research through a variety of advanced market research techniques, and computer software models towards developing business opportunity recommendations; Develop and manage internal database, lead generation, and lead management systems, track success rates of lead generation initiatives. * NPL/NPD Project management – 40% interface between the Sales, Marketing, Technical, Manufacturing, Operations Planning and Distribution groups to insure effective planning, communications and progress of commercial coatings both new product development and NPL product launches initiatives, on time and complete. Ensure appropriate marketing support materials are communicated to field at time of launch. Post launch analysis to meeting stated objectives in business volume projections. * Advertising/Communications Project Co-ordination – 10% - Coordinate the development and inventory management of advertisements, brochures, presentations, and more for all products and markets; provide updates for Refinish Commercial coatings website (internal and external).
