Senior Product Engineer

Job Description Job Description We are a high-end office furniture manufacturer seeking a Product Engineer with diverse experience and the right mindset to support internal industrial design, manufacturing engineering, and operations in collaboratively taking new products from concept to launch. Roles and Responsibilities: • Provide engineering leadership and project management on a given project. • Collaborate with Industrial Design to guide concepts toward design for manufacturability. • Lead the detailed technical development including testing, cost analysis, sourcing support, and release to production. • Document the engineering design and specifications including CAD models, drawings, inspection and test reports, and bills of material. • Participate in and support prototype and model making using rapid prototyping equipment and/or model shop staff and equipment. • Incorporate a strong working knowledge of production processes, including wood working, welding, injection molding, mechanical fabrication, finishing/painting processes and product assembly. • Interact with external tooling and components suppliers in support of development activities.

Skills and Requirements: • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering. • 5 or more years of product design and development experience in consumer products, preferably in high-end office furniture manufacturing, or equivalent. • Mechanical aptitude and experience in product development. • Demonstrated project leadership. • A team player with professional integrity, strong initiative, and commitment to achieving company goals. • Organized, with strong analytical and creative problem-solving skills • Effective and professional verbal and written communication skills. • A strong sense of curiosity, independence, flexibility, and a desire to explore new forms, functions, materials, and technologies leading to creative engineering design solutions. • Ability to adapt to ever-changing situations and overcome challenges in a fast-paced environment. • Experience in rapid prototyping, both hands-on in the machine shop and using rapid prototyping equipment—CNC programming experience is a plus. • Experience working with a diverse, worldwide supply chain. • Must be adept with CAD, SolidWorks experience preferred. Reports to the Vice President of Engineering.
