  • Bearings, at its Detroit Business Office in Detroit, MI.

Job Description

Job duties include:

1.Participating in bearing and bearing related component design through the full cycle product launch in accordance with APQP and PE-PDP and program launch gate deliverables.

2.Utilizing MASTA and other tools to drive the analysis and selection of bearings

3.Creating supplier/vendor specifications and works with procurement to select and validated vendors.

4.Interface with VAVE team to fully understand cost implications of part design to deliver product systems within agreed costed bill of materials (BOM).

5.Interface with customer representatives throughout the product development cycle to gather requirements, ensure design meets the requirement, and gain approval to use the design in production.

6.Lead the testing and validation of product designs, ensure scheduling of product design testing, and gain prototype and part approval.

7.Select the appropriate bearing steel material for the application requirements using metallurgy fundamentals.

8.Analyze the bearing failure using 5 WHY technique to determine root cause of failure.

Required Skills and Education

Position requires: Bachelor's Degree in Material Science and Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related engineering field, or foreign equivalent education, and 3 years' experience working in the automotive bearing field in the position of Product Engineer, Component Release Engineer, Senior Product Engineer, Senior Component Release Engineer, or other Bearing Product Engineering position. 3 years' experience is required in each of the following:

1.Performing root cause analysis on bearing failures using 5 WHY technique.

2.Support MASTA analysis and selection of bearings.

3.Full cycle product launch from concept to start of production following APQP standards.

4.Implementing cost savings through VAVE team.

5.Working with bearing steel metallurgical fundamentals.

Experience may be obtained concurrently.
