WHAT YOU WILL DO

onX is seeking a Senior Product Designer with a passion for designing intuitive product experiences that meet the needs of our Offroad users. Your focus will be on partnering with cross-functional peers to build end-to-end product experiences for Offroad users, navigating new problem spaces and iterating on current experiences while balancing intuitive user experience design, user interface design, visual design, and critical thinking skills. You will be a part of our Product Design & UX Research team and lead product design for our Offroad product while collaborating across a matrix of teams to build remarkable product experiences.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a dynamic, growing company focused on impacting the business while defining, designing, researching, prototyping, and implementing new product experiences, features, and future iterations of our Offroad product. This role will serve as the Senior Product Designer for onX Offroad and will report to Senior Director of Product Design.

As an onX Senior Product Designer, your essential job duties and responsibilities will look like:

  • Partner with cross-functional team leads from product management, engineering, geospatial, and other functional areas of the business to navigate both strategic work and detailed execution.

  • Iterate and improve the user experience (UX) and user interface (UI) of the Offroad product experience in close collaboration with product managers, engineers, and geospatial experts.

  • Experience defining and contributing to UX research initiatives (usability tests, surveys, user interviews) alongside UX researchers and product managers.

  • Design features that consider a holistic user experience while considering thoughtful interactions across various platforms in mind, including web, iOS, Android, and device extensions such as Carplay, Android Auto, Apple Watch.

  • Create deliverables (wireframes, mockups, prototypes, flows, and so on) to communicate product concepts, recommendations, and design rationale, drive alignment, and evaluate design concepts based on established best practices, product strategy, and research and data.

  • Advocate for quality user-centered decision-making, demonstrating an ability to weigh multiple competing priorities and constraints to find the best path forward.

  • Provided UX feedback to the team through mentoring, and working in close collaboration with designers and other functional team members.

  • Stay informed and share the latest on UI/UX techniques, tools, and patterns including the latest on AI, accessibility, inclusive design, and UX recommendations from the HIG and Material design.

  • Work with the Senior Director of Product Design to ensure continuous collaboration with all business areas.

WHAT YOU'LL BRING

  • Bachelor's degree in Product Design, Human Centered Design, User Experience Design, or equivalent experience.

  • Eight (8) or more years of user experience design is required.

  • Design experience across multiple platforms, including fully responsive web and native mobile (iOS and Android).

  • In addition to your application, please submit a portfolio or case studies highlighting your design work. Applications must have a portfolio to be considered.

  • Ability to travel quarterly for multiple days to a corporate office or other onX strategic location, such as a Basecamp.

ADDED BONUSES

Though not required, we would be thrilled to consider candidates with any of the following:

  • Experience with product discovery, storytelling, and UX strategy, taking products from 0 to 1.

  • Experience with mapping, navigation, geospatial applications, and outdoor recreation is a plus.

  • Experiencing operating in a startup culture-embracing rapid iteration, experimentation, and a growth mindset.

  • Self-starter with the ability to find solutions for unstructured problems.

WHERE YOU CAN WORK

onX has created a thriving distributed workforce community across several US locations. This position can be performed from an onX corporate office, "Basecamp," or "Connection Hub".

  • Corporate Offices: onX was founded in Montana with offices in Missoula and Bozeman. If you prefer to work in an office at least part of the time, this is a great option.

  • Basecamps: onX's Basecamps are established virtual workforce communities where a sizable number of distributed team members group for work, volunteering, socializing, and adventure.

  • Our current Basecamps are located within a 90-mile radius of the following: Austin, TX; Denver, CO; Kalispell, MT; Minneapolis, MN; Portland, OR; Salt Lake City, UT; and Seattle, WA.

  • Connection Hubs: onX's Connection Hub locations are smaller, emerging communities of distributed team members.

  • Our current Connection Hubs are located within a 60-mile radius of the following: Boise, ID; Charleston, SC; Charlotte, NC; Dallas/Fort Worth, TX; Phoenix, AZ; Richmond, VA; Spokane, WA; and Vermont.

HOW YOU'LL BE COMPENSATED

onX is committed to compensating all employees fairly and equitably for their contributions. For this position, applicants can expect to make between $125,000 to $165,000 upon hire. The pay range will vary based on experience, skills, certifications, and education among other factors as required in the job description. In addition, full-time onX employees are eligible for a grant of common share options with a vesting schedule and a potential annual bonus of 10% based on company performance.
