Excited to change the face of local commerce by designing experiences that thousands of merchants use worldwide to reach a marketplace of more than 20 Million active monthly customers?

Groupon is an experiences marketplace that brings people more ways to get the most out of their city or wherever they may be. By enabling real-time mobile commerce across local businesses, live events and travel destinations, Groupon helps people find and discover experiences--big and small, new and familiar--that make for a full, fun and rewarding life. Groupon helps local businesses grow and strengthen customer relationships--resulting in strong, vibrant communities. Even with thousands of employees spread across multiple continents, we still maintain a culture that inspires innovation, rewards risk-taking and celebrates success.

We're looking for a Senior Product Designer to join our team in Seattle or Chicago or Remote!

As a member of Groupon's Design Union - a team of product designers, content strategists, and researchers - you'll be advocating for user-centered design within the organization, and collaborating closely with multidisciplinary, agile teams to develop delightful and usable products.

We're looking for a great communicator with keen design judgment who can weave a clear narrative and articulate well-constructed rationale behind design decisions. This is a Senior contributor role, with a mix of product design/product strategy responsibility. You enjoy collaborating with teams, staying focused and effective, and doing the work. You can demonstrate success doing this in similar contexts in your portfolio. You're customer & data informed, because you know successful product design isn't about anyone's personal taste, but you're experienced enough to know best practices in a pinch, or how to extract them through competitive & research-based analysis. You love to diagnose pain points, solve real customer problems, and design elegant solutions that impact real people. You want to contribute at all stages of design - from concept through research all the way to specifying the details - and working with teams to ensure the delivered product lines up with your expectations.

We're a "best of both worlds" kind of company. We're big enough to have the resources and scale, but small enough that a single person has a surprising amount of autonomy and can make a meaningful impact. We're curious, fun, and a little intense.

You'll spend time on the following:

  • Contributing ideas to develop new or improve existing products & services.

  • Pushing the boundaries and questioning the strategies behind what we build.

  • Deeply understanding, contributing to and, if necessary, challenging the premises, goals and requirements of your projects.

  • Sketching, concepting, workshopping, co-designing and other collaborative exercises to generate ideas and build consensus.

  • Collaborating with user researchers and data analysts to better understand our customers' behavior, needs and pain points.

  • Collaborating with Content Strategy to ensure effective content can supercharge your designs.

  • Creating animations, storyboards, prototypes, flows, wireframes, visualizations that effectively convey the motivations, goals, purpose, and functionality of a product's design to your teammates and stakeholders.

  • Lovingly crafting final designs and specifications.

We're excited about you if you have:

  • A portfolio showcasing excellent design skills and how you approached and addressed complex challenges.

  • BS Graphic Design, Visual Design, Communication Design, Human Factors (HCI) or a related field.

  • 5+ years of experience as a Product Designer in relevant industries working with multi-disciplinary teams in Agile environments.

  • Experience in e-commerce or two-sided marketplaces.

  • Experience designing web, mobile web and native mobile applications.

  • Hands on prototyping experience with tools like Figma and/or HTML/CSS.

  • A strong understanding of user-centered design principles and methods.

  • Familiarity with qualitative & quantitative research methods and the application of insights.

  • You're a self-starter who can execute in a fast-paced environment with minimal direction.
