Air Products and Chemicals, Inc., a Fortune 500 manufacturer of industrial gases, has an immediate opening for a Senior Process Systems Engineer.

The Process Systems Engineering Group provides engineering and commissioning support for new capital industrial gas plants that serve all industry including; Petrochemical, steel, electronics industries for example. Some example projects include hydrogen steam methane reformers, carbon monoxide plants, ammonia plants, and various large-scale supporting equipment installations like pipeline compressors, PSA Units and off-gas processing units. The Process Systems Team also support Large 800 2000 TPD) and Very Large Air Separation plants (2400 5000+ TPD) of varying complexity, both greenfield and brownfield installations. Projects typically have budgets exceeding 10 million USD with most exceeding 100 million USD. Mega projects in the Gasification space exceed 500 Million USD Detailed engineering support will be required, which could include supporting an in-house design team or supporting an outside engineering design firm. We are also asked to support our Operations Team as well as our after services team.

This open position will be part of North America Engineering Team as part of Process Engineering.

The primary responsibilities of the Process Systems Engineer are the following:

  • Manage the projects P&ID's, functional logic tables, alarm and trip settings, critical safety tables and operating procedures/training manuals.

  • Participate in the hazard review process and other safety evaluations (SIL and Fault Tree Experience a plus).

  • Coordinate functional issues involving plant reliability, operability and maintenance, while providing technical liaison support to Global Operations.

  • Manage and provide input into the plant design by reviewing the 3D piping model and overall facility arrangement (Plot Plan).

  • Participate in the DCS (Distributed Control System) staging (SAT, Software Acceptance Test) and field validation.

  • Participate and help plan field-commissioning activities including Operational Readiness Inspections (ORI), Plant Start-up and assist with the development and implementation of reliability test plans.

  • Provide feedback and support to our product teams from actual project experience.

  • Mentor and help train less experience Systems Engineers to improve our ability to move with speed and self confidence.

QUALIFICATIONS:

BS ChE/ME with at 15+ years in new plant engineering or plant process engineering with a focus on plant operations/startups. The applicant should possess a balanced multi-discipline understanding in process engineering, DCS/PLC controls (Process Controls knowledge), Process Safety and equipment/plant design. The applicant shall have the ability to make balanced decisions weighing operability, reliability, capital costs and operating costs. The applicant must communicate effectively and seek out technical expertise as required. Engineering experience in high temperature process gas plants and/or combustion processes is preferred.

Travel is required, both domestic and international. Travel will include trips to plant sites, equipment fabricators, outside engineering firms, and customer locations (estimated at 10 15%).

We are hiring because our Shell Projects & Technology Service Operation Management (P&T SOM) is key to supporting the global infrastructure for Technical Professionals in Shell Exploration and Production (E&P). It includes GIS (Geographic Information Systems) specific back-end services for the global Shell Geomatics community, which are provided by virtual teams located in the USA, Netherlands and India. We're looking for a candidate to strengthen the team to work on cloud native technologies, operational support for cloud environments, service improvements and DevOps project related activities. Subsurface IT Services provide support to geo-scientists, petroleum engineers, subsurface data managers and subsurface operations covering the full lifecycle of the Oil & Gas business. Shell's Exploration & Production (E&P) data managers are currently using an extensive portfolio of Subsurface Applications to support the integrated management and delivery of corporate data for use in subsurface and Petro technical applications both in house solutions and vendor applications. The Subsurface & Wells (SSW) Services team consists of professional staff operating in various locations with current main hub locations in Houston in the United States and Rijswijk in the Netherlands with a substantial component of IT support delivered as Managed Services from Bangalore. The Cloud Native Engineer will be responsible for the deployment, support and evergreen Shell's cloud ecosystem with strong focus on Subsurface technology. The subsurface technology covers covering all Technical Data Management of wells bore data management, wells master manager, sub surface data universe based on the cloud technology like Terraform, Kubernetes, Jenkins, Docker, etc. This workload will include managing, planning, architecting, and monitoring of cloud systems as a Cloud Site Reliability Engineer (SRE). Once the applications are deployed, day to day support of the applications will also remain on the responsibility of the engineer. It also includes knowing and implementing the best practices for deploying Subsurface Applications (both Shell developed and vendor software) to the AWS cloud. Key accountabilities: * Designing, planning, sizing and deploying Subsurface Applications on the AWS cloud * Migrating on-premise applications of the organization to the cloud * Identifying potential bottlenecks in applications' performance through appropriate troubleshooting. * Strategizing a recovery plan to compensate for possible downtime or failure scenarios * Maintaining data integrity by implementing proper access control for cloud services * Identifying the best practices of cloud architecture to support applications * Using their programming knowledge like bash, python, PowerShell, etc to write deployment automations for server-less applications * Automating Subsurface Application workflows to AWS * Understanding the application life cycle and utilizing APIs * Identifying and using appropriate cloud services like SAML Ping Identity, DNS, Network, S3 technology etc. to support applications on the cloud * IT service management and support for the global Technical Data Management (TDM) end-user community.
