General Summary:

The Process Development Engineer is responsible for:

  • The identification of applicable and/or innovative creation of new & unique processes and/or processing equipment to achieve business goals of commercializing new products and product forms.

  • Innovative, practical application and modification of existing technologies to achieve business goals of commercializing new products or improving existing products.

  • Early process assessment and the development of analytical methods to gain insight into effects of processing parameters in order to identify and optimize processes for specific product scope.

  • Providing process specifications and support to assure smooth roll outs of new equipment and processes into operations.

  • Provision of comprehensive process documentation to enable smooth commercialization and training of plant personnel.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Identification, assessment, validation and documentation of process technology to deliver identified new products.

  • Conducts assessment and capability studies and supervises new product startups/commercialization and provides on-site support to Project Engineers and Plant Operations.

  • Provides expertise in developing new and innovative manufacturing processes.

  • Provides on-site and remote technical services, observing processes, pinpointing and fixing problems to assure consistent quality and capacity.

  • Creates, designs, supervises the development of new process/equipment and experimental protocols required to validate product concepts and prototypes.

  • Independently directs the activities of outside vendors and fabricators in the development and fabrication of new equipment, and managing the testing of such equipment both at the vendor facility and production plants.

Job Complexity:

  • Requires the ability to interact and communicate effectively with Sr. R&D Management, Product Development, QA, Plant Management and line operators.

  • The Process Engineer must be a good problem solver, must be able to identify, interpret and analyze the correct data, and provide detailed directions to development projects.

  • Maintains active knowledge and understanding in areas beyond Process Development, including Product and Package Development, QA, Project Engineering, and a thorough understanding of Marketing needs and financial hurdles.

  • Sustains a high level of competence and professionalism in a dynamic business environment. Proficient in driving team alignment on technical solutions and strategies.

Minimum Requirements:

  • B.S Chemical Engineering, Food Engineering, Agriculture Engineering with Food Processing emphasis. Mechanical, Industrial or Electrical Engineering degrees with substantial food industry experience will be considered.

  • 6-10+ years of related experience with a consumer packaged goods background -

  • Desired experience in snack food processing, encompassing forming, slicing, frying, baking, drying, topical applications, cooling, etc.

  • Excellent analytical skills, strong attention to details, good communications and interpersonal skills coupled with strong hands on technical skills.

  • Ability to handle and lead multiple projects at any given time in a team environment, with flexibility to respond to change in a dynamic business environment.

  • Conceptual familiarity with modeling engineering process calculations such as heat/mass balance, process capability, and capacity analysis, and ability to apply in practical situations.

  • Strong computer skills involving statistical, drawing, project management, and presentation software.

  • Produces extraordinary results and projects a strong sense of urgency.

General Summary: This individual will champion the benefits of process and technology optimization throughout Campbell Snacks (DSD) Direct Store Delivery Sales. The Campbell Snacks DSD ecosystem supports critical business processes that enable the realization of more than $4.5B in DSD revenue annually. This individual will demonstrate a high level of autonomy, flexibility and agility to lead cross-functional teams through DSD business process and technology related initiatives ensuring the DSD ecosystem is robust and scalable. Initiatives in this space include digital business applications, improved end-user experience through advanced automation, and streamlining of DSD Sales processes and its' technology ecosystem. The Senior Process & Technology Analyst will be required to work on multiple concurrent initiatives and properly document all DSD processes and the technology landscape that supports them. Principal Responsibilities: 50% - Process & Controls Analysis * Enable the delivery of significant and measurable business results by engaging in complex strategic Campbell Snacks DSD Sales process improvement projects. * Facilitate structured interviews and discussions to perform focused analysis in order to identify root causes and present process improvement recommendations and solutions. * Act as a process facilitator. * Coach, develop, guide and serve as an internal process performance consultant. * Disseminate information, driving standardization and collaboration, resolving process issues and lead Campbell Snacks DSD business teams to identify and improve key performance metrics. * Share best-practices as an informal mentor to strengthen the Campbell Snacks DSD Sales organization and its' effectiveness. * Provide knowledge of problem-solving methodologies to enable delivery of excellent execution of processes to support the organizations next level of evolution. 50% - Technology Analysis * Engage business analysts and developers to ensure DSD related batch jobs, processes, customizations, and integration designs incorporate appropriate logging, alerting and fault tolerance. * Lead architectural and technical design reviews related to development occurring in the DSD landscape and ensure they meet performance, scalability and fault tolerance requirements. * Ensure performance and fault tolerance considerations are incorporated into testing for planning and execution. * Ensure proper and effective re-use of application and technical services, frameworks, etc. in the design and implementation of DSD initiatives while also evaluating new paradigms, concepts and technologies to assess their appropriateness for us in the DSD space. * Analyze application related performance issues involving DSD processes. Interface with cross-functional teams on system performance considerations and disaster recovery related initiatives. Job Complexity: * Superior critical thinking skills with the ability to formulate and develop innovative solutions to solve DSD opportunities. * Expert knowledge of SAP technology landscape within a DSD construct as well as IT standards, process, infrastructure and systems. * Superior knowledge of DSD processes across sales, supply chain and financial work streams. * Expert knowledge in establishing methodologies and implementing structured ways of solving business requirements. * Superior ability to facilitate business process optimization initiatives and design efficient and effective business processes to drive sales growth and ensure Campbell Snacks DSD competitive advantage. * Superior ability to design and implement meaningful proof of concepts for new technologies yielding relevant and clear results. * Expertise in analytics of SAP batch streams and ability to streamline, optimize and eliminate obsolete processing. * Expertise in collaboration with the ability to handle conflict and work with a distributed team. * Superior communication skills, both written and verbal. Requirements: Business Competencies: * Expertise in CPG DSD business principles, practices, and processes. * Familiarity with Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC.) * Experience in conducting process design and improvement projects end-to-end with cross-functional teams. * Excellent business acumen and mastery of total business knowledge of sales processes in consumer-packaged goods. Technical Competencies: * Knowledge of SAP ABAP and entire SAP platform stack. * Experience with integration technologies (IDOC's, XML, Cloud Integration, etc.). * Underlying architecture knowledge of ECC. * Knowledge of business problem solving methodologies (Six Sigma, LITE, Lean, BPO, Continuous Improvement, or similar). * Strong design capabilities. Education and Work Experience: * Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related discipline.
