In this role, you will commercialize new organic chemicals from bench to manufacturing, for diverse markets including imaging, pharmaceutical and personal care. You will also work on the bench to explore synthetic routes, generate samples, develop test methods, run design of experiments to deliver a safe, robust manufacturing process.

Key Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Project management for new chemical commercialization in the pharmaceutical market

  • Identify synthesis routes for new molecules, using deep synthetic expertise and effecting searching of literature.

  • Use background knowledge and mechanistic understanding to effectively select a route, and creatively solve issues arising during route development.

  • Developing a safe manufacturing process taking into consideration Health, Environmental, Regulatory, and Safety aspects.

  • Work on the bench to develop a Robust manufacturing process.

  • Work with Production and sourcing to deliver on the cost and time requirements of the project.

  • Work directly with external customers, build strong relationships.

  • Support custom synthesis opportunities in the Pharmaceutical market

  • Identify synthetic routes for new business target.

  • Develop a preliminary price idea for the new target

  • Bench work to generate a sample that validates the assumptions of the price target.

  • Support the process development through commercialization as above

  • Develop new routes or modify existing routes to deliver productivity.

Required Skills/Experience:

  • Ph.D in Chemistry

  • Demonstrated a broad knowledge of synthetic organic chemistry

  • A track record of results driven execution of creative synthetic pathways in the pharmaceutical small molecule market

  • Demonstrated experience of conceiving and executing complex multistep syntheses on the bench

  • Ability work on the lab bench in a productive manner

  • Strong interpersonal skills

  • Highly effective at building and driving collaborations across organizational boundaries

  • Motivated, self-starter

  • Project Leadership

  • Ability to manage a fluid environment of shifting priorities in a new business development arena

Desired Skills/Experience:

  • Knowledge of Statistical Process control

  • Knowledge of Design of Experiments

  • cGMP requirements

  • Strong communication skills

Qualifications Education: Degree in Scientific or Engineering Discipline. Specialized Training: Six Sigma Green Belt and DFSS experience preferred. MiniTab/JMP Statistical software preferred. Tableau a plus. Experience: 3-9 years in Engineering, Process Development, and/or Quality Engineering setting. Hands-on experience and technical expertise in a development environment a must. ISO-9000, GMP, medical device manufacturing experience a plus. Statistical analysis required within a development or manufacturing setting. Experience with high volume and/or high precision manufacturing a plus. Special Skills: Computer Literacy with skills in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Powerpoint, plus MiniTab, JMP (or equivalent software). Experience & expertise in Statistical Analysis including DOE and SPC. Communication, Organization, Report Writing, and Presentation skills a must.
