Northrop Grumman Aerospace Systems has an opening for a Senior Principal Systems Test Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Melbourne FL.

Essential Functions:

This is a Deputy lead design Project Engineering position.

  • Responsibilities to include the Oversight of development, integration and documentation of Laboratory systems, electrical cable designs, Mechanical designs and assemblies for aerospace programs.

  • Oversee the Development and integration of wiring designs and mechanical designs of functional systems.

  • Candidate will be responsible to have tasks delivered on time and within budget.

  • Candidate will be expected to interface and present status presentations with multiple disciplines such as program management, electrical, mechanical, structures, stress, M&P, procurement, subcontractors, and manufacturing.

  • Familiar with utilizing AutoCAD Electrical, NX Mechanical design tools and Laboratory Infrastructure.

  • Oversee the Creation of block diagrams, wiring diagrams and detailed assemblies such as cable assemblies, Circuit Breaker assemblies, Relay assemblies etc.

  • Must be familiar using SAE AS 50881 (Mil-5088), additional MIL specs and proven commercial practices.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university and 9 years of flight test experience OR

  • Master's Degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university and 7 years of flight test experience OR

  • PhD Degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university and 4 years of experience of flight test experience.

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain an active DoD Secret or Top Secret Security Clearance.

  • Must be able to obtain Special Access Program clearance prior to start

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree in a STEM from an accredited university

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal skills, and the ability to interface with all levels of employees and management

  • Experience coordinating and supporting TRR's, FRR's, and SRB's in support of ground and flight test execution

  • Willing to work additional assignments beyond the defined requirements of this position

  • Experience with Airworthiness Criteria certification artifact identification and submittal to satisfy MIL-STD-516 requirements

  • Active Top Secret DoD security clearance

This position will be located in Melbourne, Florida. Laboratory System Test Engineer synthesizes customer contractual needs and requirements into system test solutions that acknowledges technical, schedule and cost constraints. Develops and directs preparation and execution of comprehensive test plans, procedures and schedules for completing systems. Essential Functions: * Perform requirements analysis and decomposition including developing derived requirements as needed to test the system. * Develop test equipment and simulation requirements. * Support Systems engineering to develop Verification Cross Reference Matrices. * Develop Test Planning Detail Sheets. * Develop Test Plans and Detailed Procedures. * Support Test Equipment Checkout and System Integration. * Support Test Execution as First Line Troubleshooter. * Perform as the hardware responsible engineer for the subsystem under test. * Perform technical interactions with the system test team to ensure system requirements are being verified. * Write Test Reports The selected candidate should thrive in a fast-paced work environment with high expectations, significantly diverse assignments, collaborative/team settings across all levels. Preferred Qualifications: * Active U.S. Government security clearance at the DoD Secret or Top Secret level with a background investigation date within 6 years * Current Special Program Access * Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Computer, Computer Science, Aerospace, Physics, or Mathematics * Previous experience integration and testing of air vehicle subsystems via labs, ground, or flight testing * Lab Test experience with air vehicle testing, Failure Modes and Effects (FMET), vehicle management system testing, fuel, flight controls testing, or actuator testing * System Test experience with the Integrated Functional Capability (IFC) Process * Demonstrated the ability to lead timely resolution of technical issues by leveraging the appropriate mix of resources. * Knowledge of the following tools, DOORS (R), ViTech CORE, Fundamentals of Systems Engineering, VISIO (R), CPLM, and Automated Testing (Python, C , Java) * Experience in several of the following areas is required: air vehicle lab testing, flight controls testing in lab environment, leadership experience; systems development experience; knowledge of architectures, Mission Systems, Mission Planning, Communications, Data links, Computer networks, Sensors, Avionics, COTS hardware, Integration, and/or Test. * Experience testing manned or unmanned aircraft (via labs, ground or flight testing) or similar system test experience * Demonstrated leadership abilities to effectively lead a small team through all phases of integration and test from design of test philosophy to delivery to the customer * Excellent communication, interpersonal skills, and the ability to interface with all levels of employees and management Northrop Grumman is committed to hiring and retaining a diverse workforce.
