Job Summary:

The Radio Frequency and Mechanical Analysis Department is seeking a Senior Principal Mechanical Engineer/Structural Analyst. The qualified candidate will have extensive experience in structural analysis and testing of airborne structures and will be responsible for detailed structural analysis to support all phases of programs including development and production. The position will be based at either our Dallas, TX or McKinney, TX location.

Analysis tasks will span the spectrum from classical hand analyses to detailed analyses requiring the use of finite element analysis software. In addition, the structural analyst is expected to have a high degree of technical competence and be a recognized technical leader and/or leader of teams of engineering analysts. The selected candidate will work under only general direction and will be expected to define the scope and level of analysis to meet required objectives and assist in program planning.

The structural analyst will be held accountable for completing their work and the work of others on their team within the agreed upon cost and schedule. The candidate will be expected to present their work for peer reviews and to be a peer reviewer for other engineers' work.

The customers of this position will include internal personnel and programs as well as external Government(s) personnel and programs. The selected candidate will work with the customer and engineering leadership to define testing required to validate structural analyses and to verify that hardware is compliant with requirements. In addition, the selected candidate will be expected to plan and support tests, perform data reduction, and engage in structural model correlation. The candidate will also be expected to assist with proposal preparation including estimating the scope of new engineering projects.

Responsibilities to Anticipate:

Analysis tasks spanning the spectrum from classical hand analysis to detailed analysis requiring the use of finite element analysis software.

Leading small teams of other structural analysts, peer reviewing your own work and the work of others.

Interpreting structural analysis results and proposing changes for design improvement.

Presenting results to internal and external customers.

Planning and supporting testing, data reduction and structural model correlation.

Estimating scope of structural engineering products for proposal support.

Qualifications You Must Have:

BS degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering and minimum of 10 years of prior relevant experience performing structural analysis or Advanced Degree in a related field and a minimum of 7 years performing structural analysis.

Ability to travel to government or other facilities in support of program activities, typically less than 15%.

Ability to work on-site at a Raytheon facility.

Ability to obtain a U.S. Government issued Secret security clearance and ability to obtain and maintain special access program (SAP) security clearance.

U.S. Citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Performing sizing calculations to determine scope of higher detail analysis models.

Performing peer reviews of analyses to validate process and results.

Delivering results to customers (internal and external).

Structural analysis using FEA software.

Proficiency with engineering workstations running Windows and Office suite.

Qualifications We Value:

Working knowledge of Abaqus FEA software.

10 or more years of experience of structural analysis of complex systems that require collaboration with multiple engineering disciplines.

Demonstrated experience in structural testing: planning, organization, execution, data reduction, and correlation.

Advanced degree in aforementioned disciplines. ABET is the preferred accreditation standard.

Experience as a technical leader and/or leader of engineering teams.

The salary range for this role is 118,000 USD - 246,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Hired applicants may be eligible for annual short-term and/or long-term incentive compensation programs depending on the level of the position and whether or not it is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement. Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company's performance.

This role is a U.S.-based role. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory, the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply.
