We are looking for a dynamic and innovative technical leader to drive how data architecture transforms the way we power the planet.
About this role
This is a highly influential member of our data team. Working within our Data group, you will be responsible for leading creation of data architecture that produces our data assets to enable our data platform. You will work closely with architects, engineers, and business leaders throughout the organization to build and execute our strategic data architecture vision.
Serving as a single-threaded technical owner for data architecture for global data platform work
Develop and design the overall system of data flows and data models for systems that produce our data assets
Scale architectural design work through data engineering, data governance, and solutions architecture
Lead development of data architecture best practices, standards, design review processes, and creation of repeatable design documents
Cultivate culture of data architecture fluency and technical enablement
Serve as technical thought leader and innovator, incorporating new ideas, technologies, and ways of working
Developing and implementing quality metrics for data to assess and optimize the current data landscape
You are as comfortable discussing the nuances of a given data platform as you are influencing a room of senior leaders. You are passionate about breaking down data silos to fuel innovation. You are a proven leader, able to organise and motivate a team to deliver tangible business benefits. You can adapt to new ways of working - and enjoy collaborating with a wide range of stakeholders.
What you have
Knowledge and Experience
A Bachelors/Masters/PhD in computer science/engineering or related experience
Proven experience leading the development and implementation of cross-functional data architecture projects
Hands-on experience of relational, dimensional, and/or analytic data management tools, including RDBMS, dimensional, NoSQL data platform technologies, and ETL and data ingestion protocols
Experience working with data warehouses, data lakes, and enterprise big data platforms in multi-data-centre contexts with a focus on energy data sets
At least one current AWS or cloud certifications and documented thought leadership related to data architecture
Experience designing scalable and repeatable data architectures to address business challenges rooted in innovation
Recognized data architecture subject matter expert serving as internal and external thought leader
Experience transforming data quality though metrics and measured improvements
History of mentoring and leading engineering teams focused on growing their architecture capabilities
Experience influencing technical decisions across the different stakeholder levels of the business including non-technical audiences
Ability to foster a culture around data-driven reliability, observability, monitoring and automation
Proven ability to thrive in nebulous environments and make crisp judgement calls to deliver results
Mastery of at least one big data technology and the principles of managing them
Proficiency of at least one language related to data engineering
Master of cloud data architecture and data integration with large scale environments
