Eaton's Engineering Services & Systems Division is seeking a Power Systems Controls Engineer. The Power Systems Controls Engineer will be based at either: Glendale Heights, IL, Southfield, MI, Lenexa, KS, Urbandale, IA, Fenton, MO, Westerville, OH, Menomonee Falls, WI, Indianapolis, IN or Parma, OH.

The Power Systems Controls group is a full-service systems integrator with the capabilities to integrate the necessary equipment and technologies, to provide a complete, power automation solution. This team of engineers and technicians brings extensive skills and experiences with a variety of leading HMI software packages enabling us to design graphically rich, easy-to-use operator interfaces that take advantage of the latest standalone or web-based technologies. Our experience transcends a multitude of equipment manufacturers, software packages, and network architectures, including all major OEMs HMI, PLCs, and components. We offer single point responsibility, a high level of engineering and systems integration expertise, and a unified focus on cost effective solutions, seamless integration, HMI development, energy management tools, and professional turnkey system design and implementation.

Position Overview:

The Power Systems Controls Engineer will provide field service systems integration engineering and technical consultation for customers in the areas of system design, programming, installation, start up, maintenance, repair, training and modification of automated control systems and power management systems.

Essential Functions:

  • Programming of Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC's)
  • Write and deploy complex power transfer and other control schemes including Main-Tie-Main transfer schemes, load shedding/ peak shaving schemes, breaker control schemes, SCADA system development, and generator control.

Position Criteria:

  • Knowledge and understanding of best engineering practices for design of automation systems, power management

  • systems, human-machine interface software, PLC programming, etc.

  • Working knowledge of test equipment and diagnostic instruments for automation and power management systems.

  • Knowledge of troubleshooting, test and repair techniques.

  • Computer literacy. Working knowledge of all software packages relevant to successful performance of tasks.

  • Knowledge and practice of safety precautions related to working with automation and power management systems.

  • Has demonstrated ability to provide service and represent company interests in developing customer relationships to

  • assure long-term customer satisfaction.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication/presentation skills

  • Experience with HMI (Human Machine Interface) software

  • Experience with AutoCAD

  • Knowledge and proficiency working with substation, SCADA, and industrial communication protocols including Modbus, Ethernet/IP, DNP3 and IEC 61850.

  • Knowledge and proficiency working with Ethernet layer 2 and layer 3 networking and experience implementing industrial/OT type networks.

  • Knowledge and proficiency working with Codesys logic programming software with a preference to structured text language.

  • Knowledge and proficiency of common substation IED's, protection relays, metering, event recorders, time synchronization, etc across multiple vendors.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited institution

  • Minimum of 5 year of experience working with PLC programming and experience power automation projects

  • Legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship

  • Candidates must live within a 50 mile radius of the work location. No company sponsored relocation will be provided.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 7 years of experience working with PLC programming and experience interacting with the direct customer on a technical basis and managing and deployment of power automation projects

  • Professional Engineering license

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution

Focus and passion of our SE: * Lead our SP customers through their SD-WAN technology adoption * Articulate both business and technical benefits of our solution * Enjoy presenting technical solutions, performing technical demonstration, explaining the use cases, and being the smart guy in the room * Build SD-WAN integration plan by working with the SP architect and product manager * Keep track of different activities and milestones within the SP and keep the broader team up to date to ensure on-time project delivery * Identify new use cases and opportunity to expand the benefit of SD-WAN to SP offering * Develop long-term relationship with SP customers and our internal teams * Come up with creative ways to tackle customer problems, and bring the feedback to product team to continue improving our product * Get to play with cool and cutting edge technologies every day * Hustle and make things happen for VMware and our customers * Craft realistic account plans and meet project criteria * Present VMware vision, strategy and product roadmaps to executives and technical management * Be resourceful and up to date on the market and competitive landscape so we can help our customers make the right decision * Coordinate the response to the customer RFI, RFP, and sales proposal * Conduct POCs, lab and field trials, certifications, and beta program * Represent VMware at SP roadshow and tradeshow, customer and partner training * Frequent travel to be on site at customer locations in Middletown, NJ Qualifications * Network Industry Certification preferred such as CCIE is preferred.
