Senior Postgres Developer / Architect

Job Duties (Description of specific duties in a typical workday for this position):

• Create scripts to develop new or updates to existing database schemas in a clustered DB environment hosted on Kubernetes

• Develop other database scripts - scheduled jobs, synchronization checks, etc.

• Lead analysis and migration of business rules currently stored in DB domain to application domain

• Apply database patches

• Plan and conduct automated Postgres database upgrades as required

• Implement and mitigate security access to Postgres Database

• Manage passwords, accounts, profiles to maintain security certification

• Conduct backup and recovery

• Conduct file transfer

• Monitor database performance and tune as required

• Ensure security controls are implemented to ensure compliance with DoD and DHA standards

• Submit Postgres Security Report and track to resolution

• Document processes and procedures such as clones, refreshes, recovery, and flashbacks

• Document disaster recovery plan and conduct exercise to ensure plan is executable

Requirements (Years of experience, Education, Certifications):

Ph.D. degree in related discipline plus ten (10) years of related experience; or Master's degree in related discipline plus twelve (12) years of related experience; or Bachelor's degree in related discipline plus fourteen (14) years of related experience; or seventeen (17) years of related experience:

• BS degree

• Fourteen years of experience

• Database Development

• Database Security

• Database performance and tuning

• Database Upgrades

• Database disaster planning and recovery

• Ability to write custom scripts to automate database administration scheduled jobs or tasks

• Must be a creative thinker who can work well on a team

• Must be US Citizen

• Secret Clearance

Nice to Have: (skills that are not required, but nice to have)

• Experience with Kubernetes environment and Running Postgres pods in K8s

• Experience performing database administration for DoD / DISA systems in classified environments

• Experience working with DISA management, system administrators, network team/CCC, and service desk to coordinate necessary changes to systems.

• Experience with Liquibase to deploy DB changes

• Postgres Database Certifications
