Responsible for building and driving enterprise wide financial performance framework for population health management by working collaboratively with Finance and Cleveland Clinical leadership. Develop and systematize a multi-dimensional measurement framework including quality, financials, contract performance criteria, health care spend, medical loss ratio and utilization for population health management. Lead analyses and provide actionable insights on total medical costs, network performance, network leakage, and population health risk economics.

Senior Population Health Analyst:

Job Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for building health plan analytics focusing on health plan analytics that measure and improve enterprise financial performance.

  • Develop insights and analysis to evaluate healthcare utilization trends. Present analyses to clinical leadership to help identity clinical interventions at patient segment level, regional level, provider level and enterprise level.

  • Review and draw conclusions to connect cause and effect of operational actions on enterprise population health financials and performance.

  • Ability to effectively understand claims data, and billing systems, translate business and clinical problems into analytic solutions

  • Demonstrate a deep understanding of healthcare utilization and cost trends, leakage opportunities, network performance, and population risk profiles.

  • Build relationships with peers across enterprise on project teams and within domain of expertise.

  • Participate in enterprise initiatives to improve population health effectiveness and outcomes.

  • Solve multiple parts of complex financial and utilization problems independently.

  • Structure and complete complex health care and medical economics analytics independently.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Health Informatics, Business, or related field required.

  • Master degree preferred.

Certifications:

  • None required.

  • Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.

  • Must be able to work in a high pressure situations /deadlines and take appropriate action.

  • Must be able to balance analysis vs. over analysis to provide accurate direction insights based on limited data-sets.

  • Experience using diverse data management and analytic tools application (i.e. Access, Business Objects) required

  • Advanced proficiency in MS Excel required

  • Experience using MS Access strongly preferred

  • Working knowledge of SQL preferred

  • Experience with OptumOne and Milliman MedInsights preferred

Experience

  • A minimum of 5 years of healthcare plan or payer analytics experience required.

  • Ability to manage across teams and collaboratively coach junior analysts.

  • Ability to translate business and clinical problems into analytic solutions.

  • Ability to manage conflicting priorities and multiple projects concurrently.

  • Strong analytical ability and familiarity with advanced financial and healthcare concepts.

  • Ability to effectively communicate & negotiate across various levels.

  • Expertise in multiple areas of provider contracting/reimbursement, analysis, modeling & reporting.

  • Extensive & diverse knowledge of healthcare data, metrics & coding structures.

  • Able to make sound decisions to drive solutions.

Population Health Analyst:

Job Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for medical economics analysis, connecting cause and effect of clinical actions on plan performance. Investigates claims and billing data and translate into utilization and cost trends, leakage opportunities, network performance, and population risk profiles would be key.

  • Actively collaborates with clinical leadership and institutes to drive clinical action on population health opportunities.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Health Informatics, Business or related field required.

  • Master degree preferred.

Certifications:

  • None required.

Provider Network Financial Analyst I Responsibilities * Perform analysis on payer utilization, cost, and management analytics as directed * Gather data from multiple sources and develop necessary analytic data result sets to enable accurate and robust quantitative analyses * Forecast contract rates, utilization trends and create financial models using claims and other healthcare data * Provide analytic support for provider profiling and comparative analysis metrics * Develop innovative approaches to deliver insightful analytic results that translate into actionable interventions and deployment of tactical action plan * Work cooperatively and collaboratively with staff at all levels across the organization * Perform ad hoc analysis as directed * Performs other duties as assigned Provider Network Financial Analyst II Responsibilities * Analyzes contracted rates to assist with determining appropriate rates for provider contracts. Coordinates with Actuaries and Underwriting to determine how contracted rates will impact appropriate regions. * Analyzes payer value based contract opportunities, including pay for performance, population health, gain or risk sharing, bundled payments, and other emerging payment models to support the organizations drive toward alternative payment models. * Analyzes and creates provider incentive distribution programs, including the periodic reporting of results, annual distribution calculations and budgeting. Supports the development of innovative distribution models to increase physician and practice engagement in quality improvement initiatives and outcomes. * Prepares monthly contract performance results and related financial reporting including interpretation and recommendations for improvement. * Prepares short and long range financial forecasting and related financial planning processes related to contract revenues and performance. * Works on various projects related to the analysis of claims, clinical and financial data, with a focus on improvement of financial and/or clinical outcomes. * Performs other duties as assigned. Provider Network Financial Analyst I Qualifications Bachelor's degree in health management and policy, business, finance, accounting or related field. 0-2 years progressive health care administration experience with a strong preference for managed care experience. Provider Contracting/Network Management experience a plus.
