The City of Raleigh is seeking a highly motivated and organized individual to join our team as a Senior Policy Analyst. This is a unique opportunity to work at the heart of local government, providing direct support to the City Manager's Office and City Council members, playing a vital role in shaping the policies and initiatives that impact our residents.
Key Responsibilities:
Administrative Support: Manage calendars, schedules, and meetings for City Council members. Draft correspondence, remarks, and agenda materials. Assist with technology and other city resources.
Policy and Constituent Relations: Facilitate staff briefings and liaison roles with boards, committees, and commissions. Assist the City Manager's Office with special projects, internal policy development, and strategic planning. Help City Council members understand key issues and interests of constituents.
Communication and Engagement: Triage and resolve constituent inquiries through the City's CRM system and other channels. Represent City Council members at community events as needed. Assist with coordinating town hall meetings and community engagement initiatives.

Local Government Enthusiast: A high level of interest and intellectual curiosity about local government governance and a desire to build a career in the field.
Council-Manager Expereince: Understanding of and commitment to the roles and responsibilities under the Council-Manager form of government.
Passionate Professional: Passion for local government excellence with strong ethical standards and an ability to advocate objectively.
Relationship Builder: Proven ability to manage complex relationships and competing priorities with diplomacy and tact.
Communication Master: Exceptional oral and written communication skills, including translating complex technical and policy information for diverse audiences.
Team Player: Values collaboration, works effectively with others, and fosters a positive team environment.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree (four-year college) or equivalent with a focus in business or public administration (preferred).
Four years of professional neighborhood outreach, citizen participation or community development experience.
Experience in municipal administration, operations, or program evaluation (a plus).
Master's degree in public/business administration or a related field (highly desirable).
Strong customer service skills, personal initiative, and problem-solving abilities.
Or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above, unless otherwise subject to any other requirements set forth in law or regulation.
