Pay,Benefits, & Work Schedule

Two full-time positions available with the Water Department, Wastewater Treatment Division located at 7300 Hawthorne Road

Salary Range: $23.98-$36.60/hour

Normal Work Days/Hours: Tuesday-Saturday, 3:00 p.m.-11:00 p.m. (2nd shift) or 11:00 p.m.-7:00 a.m. (3rd shift)

Responsibilities

• Assigns work and participates in sampling, process control tests, check and operating equipment, line valves, evaluating unit process performance and maintaining a lean and safe work environment.

• Evaluates laboratory results and operational data to determine the condition of processes and makes process control decisions, including changes in chemical dosages, filter operations and sludge wasting rates.

• Ensures proper maintenance of equipment and line valves by writing Work Orders for preventive maintenance and repair work.

• Maintains accurate, complete, up-to-date operational records.

• Troubleshoots problems with equipment and processes.

• Trains Plant Operators and PO Trainees in plant operations and maintenance and safety.

• Uses computer for SCADA system, telemetry, factory talk and power BI.

• Performs related duties as required.

Qualifications

REQUIRES high school graduation and possession of a B-level operator certification in water/wastewater issued by the Missouri Department of Natural Resources. Must pass a pre-employment drug screen.

The minimum education requirement for positions that allow for experience equivalency for an accredited degree is a high school diploma. Unless otherwise specified, an accredited degree must be obtained from a college or university listed with the U.S. Department of Education and recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education.

For positions with a salary grade of EX6 or higher that require an accredited degree, qualifying professional experience must be obtained AFTER the accredited degree is obtained.

Successful completion of a pre-employment criminal history/background check is required for all positions. Some positions require a post offer drug screen and/or physical.

If appointed, non-residents must obtain residency inside Kansas City, Missouri's city limits within nine months.
