Minimum Qualifications

Master's degree in Urban Planning or Regional Planning or Planning Related Field; or Bachelor's degree in Urban Planning or Regional Planning or Planning Related field, and two years of experience in land use or comprehensive planning is required. Additional experience in land use or comprehensive planning may substitute for the required college education on a year for year basis. Planning-related fields are Architecture, Public Administration, Sustainability, Geographic Information Systems, Historic Preservation, Urban Analytics, Economics, Sociology, Statistics, Law, Business Administration, Geography, or Urban Studies.

Recruitment Notes

The Senior Planner performs planning, design, and project management related work, such as generating conceptual site designs, to address maritime facility improvements, including transportation, office buildings, parking garages, cruise terminals and cargo facilities. The Senior Planner also assists in grant and report writing and coordination, near- and long-range planning studies pertaining to growth management, multimodal transportation, urban economic development, urban planning, or progress as related to seaports, toward implementing the objectives of the Miami-Dade Seaport Department (PortMiami) 2050 Master Plan, PortMiami Transportation Plan (PMTP), and Miami-Dade County's Comprehensive Development Master Plan (CDMP).
