This position is represented by the Anchorage Municipal Employee Association (AMEA) and is subject to the provisions of the current agreement between the Municipality of Anchorage and the AMEA.

DEPARTMENT: Parks and Recreation

HOURS OF WORK: Monday through Friday; 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

LOCATION: 632 W 6th Avenue, Suite 630, City Hall Parks and Recreation

Example of Duties

This is a professional level position within the Parks and Recreation Department. Candidate will have a background in planning and/or landscape architecture and strong technical skills. Under general direction, is responsible for participation in the formulation and administration of park planning and development projects, the administration of contracts, budgets and work programs, for performance of the more difficult and complex park planning and development work.

This position involves project management of park and trail development projects, both in house and under contract to design consultants. Coordination of the public involvement and project review process is required. May have lead responsibility of multi-disciplinary park project staff. Perform other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications / Substitutions / Preferences

Bachelor's degree in Landscape Architecture or related discipline and three (3) years of experience in landscape design, engineering, construction administration or a related field; one (1) year of which must have been as a Landscape Architect with the Municipality of Anchorage or equivalent elsewhere.

OR

Associate's degree in Landscape Architecture or a related discipline and five (5) years of experience in landscape design, engineering, construction administration, or a related field; one (1) year of which must have been as a Landscape Architect with the Municipality of Anchorage or equivalent elsewhere.

OR

High school diploma, GED, or equivalent and seven (7) years of experience in landscape design, engineering, construction administration, or a related field of which one (1) year must have been as a Landscape Architect with the Municipality of Anchorage or equivalent elsewhere.

Must possess a valid State of Alaska driver's license at time of hire.

Preferences:

  • Experience with landscape installation and monitoring

LOCATION OF WORK: 825 L Street Example of Duties The Public Health Nurse (PHN) will provide evidence based, population based, comprehensive public health nursing services to address community needs including communicable disease control and prevention, epidemiological investigations, immunizations, obesity, reproductive health needs, family planning and Secually Transmitted Infecitons (STI) screening, treatment and education. Provide community education on health topics. Educate and provide direct health care services to vulnerable and at-risk populations in the clinic and in the community. Work in partnership with individuals, communities, groups, organizations and systems to improve health. Through the Core Functions of Public Health (Assessment, Policy Development, and Assurance), the PHN will intervene in all levels of prevention to safeguard the health and safety of hte population in the community. The Anchorage Health Department (AHD) engages in the State of Alaska Department of Health and Social Services (AHD) emergency responses and the federal Incident Command System (ICS). This includes training exercises as part of the AHD's Crisis Health Action Team (CHAT) and municipal Emergency Operations Center (EOC).
