The Overview:

The Payroll Senior System Specialist will work collaboratively with the Payroll team and management to ensure efficient payroll processes while staying compliant with all regulations and policies. This individual will serve as a point of contact for payroll projects and identify process improvement opportunities. This individual will also execute payroll projects. This individual will investigate payroll system and reporting updates, issues, and inquiries. This individual may also work with partners in Accounting, Human Resources, Third Party Vendors, and other internal departments on various initiatives.

What You'll Do:

  • Support the payroll team as the first escalation for system-related issues

  • Execute complex and/or high impact business processes, audits, and transactions

  • Create and maintain reports from Workday and other systems

  • Performs maintenance on payroll updates and is responsible for testing new or changed payroll functionality

  • Complete assigned per pay period, quarterly, and annual payroll reporting and data reconciliations timely

  • Ability to identify issues and demonstrate curiosity to investigate and resolve

  • Proactively identify and implement opportunities for process improvement, including testing, documentation, and team training

  • Act as a mentor to other payroll team members, providing training, support and guidance on tasks and troubleshooting

  • Stays up to date and research laws and regulation changes and how they affect the payroll system

  • Facilitate and/or execute projects as assigned as a core team member or lead on payroll-specific initiatives

  • Support Payroll management and team members with projects and other tasks as required.

What You'll Need:

  • Associate Degree in Accounting, Finance, or relevant field. An appropriate combination of education and work experience will be considered.

  • 2+ years related experience processing high volume, multi-state payroll for a mid to large size company for US and Canada

  • Hands on experience with Workday Payroll, ADP SmartCompliance and UKG Timekeeping preferred

  • Understanding of federal, state, and provincial regulations related to salaries, wages, taxes, benefits, and other payroll related matters required

  • FPC or CPP certification preferred

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

  • Advanced Microsoft office skills (Excel, Word)

  • Able to work with minimal supervision, coordinates with others and prioritizes tasks

  • Able to work in a high growth environment under tight deadlines

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and able to work in a team environment
